When you hit someone you only receive half the fame they loose. The reason traders make fame is so there is a constant source of new fame. This mean s that total fame with neither grow rapidly or completely diminish. So you can't really stop traders from making fame or else fame would just slowly die out. You also can't change the how you only get half the fame from battles because then fame would just be moved around constantly.

If you make a new rating called Infamy, how would infamy be gained, how would infamy be generated into the game. What changes would have to be made to fame so it wouldn't be obsolete.

Is fame a limited commodity? If that was true, Jay Z would have saved us from having to listen to Kayne West...

I can see the need for one score for both paths, trading and pirates, although gold could work.

I would say that its combat ships vs combat ships that is the crux of the problem. There should be a disparagy allowance worked into the formula. If a MOW fleet beats a cutter fleet, the fame gained should be minimal. You could still keep total fame as a factor, but modify its application in certain parameters.

I am told that Skyhawk has made a number of suggestions about pirate changes, I haven't had a chance to research them yet, but I may have a number of other ideas once I see what's already been suggested.

not neccisary to categorize them, just have the formula use a ratio of total cannons of the two fleets. 200 cannon vs. 198 cannon= high fame. 200 cannon vs 8 cannon=low fame.

I don't know any traders who don't like it. I don't know any pirates who do like it.

For example, I've been the third highest famed pirate in the game. I've been the least famed pirate in the game. On the SAME day!

For a pirate, fame fluctuates so fast, its really kind of comical. I would use the card that converts fame to money, but that requires a 50+ ship fleet, not an amount most pirates carry.

Do you at least see that a carefully planned raid with vodoo that is successful shouldn't be totally wipped out by a casual counterattack by capital ships? There is almost always a zero sum gain. Player A did something difficult and daring and deserving of fame. Player B sat in Tortuga, never moved or did a darn thing but log on and eat little pirates.

This how you get a player with 35 SOL/MOW who as far as I can tell, doesn't do a darn thing!

new edit

Not sure if the new hideout could be modified to help, like you can go back and have double danger reduction and safety from attack, haven't looked at every post on hideout, but something like that could help.

new edit

anyone know skyhwak's forum name? having a hard time finding his posts...

Congratulations! You have bought 5 Hostile Natives voodoo cards ! It cost you 13 credits. I think I single handedly drove up the market for these:) I love all these noobs launching devastating raids. 1) They read Cap's Spew Box religously 2) Things were getting boring around here:)

So what do you think, should I tell the masses how to do the next stage? You know young pirates, it used to take months of playing in a guild before someone maybe told you this stuff, if you begged hard enough...

Hey seeing as this is MY brag thread, and I've already used three edits on the last post, I'm going to brag again in a new post!!!! (ticktock, look away)

Yes Ayecappy is on top of the TRADER board today after being on the RAID board yesterday!

Lets just call this feat (now done only twice in the history of the game) "pulling an AyeCappy:)"

Most Profitable Fleet Yesterday: Tillie 3 by AyeCappy 233,880 total profit

Most Profitable Fleet Yesterday: Tillie 3 by AyeCappy 240,600 total profit

OMG maybe I'll join ATC, wonder if they would have me?

Most Profitable Fleet Yesterday: Tillie 4 by AyeCappy 230,400 total profit

Three days in a row? Geez if this is the competition in the trader world, maybe I'll hang up the skull and crossbones:)

To All My Enemies:

In the immortal words of General Anthony Clement McAuliffe, division commander of the US 101st Airborne Division in WWII, answered a request to surrender, surrounded by a far superior Nazi force, by saying:

"NUTS!"

It so baffled the germans, they delayed their attack while they frantically tried to translate what "NUTS!!!" meant:)
