Terrorism is something that controls the masses. For something that has only killed a few journalists, Americans sure think that is a much bigger problem than what is hitting home.
While people worry about that, serious problems which as there are 4 times more healthcare lobbyists than there are people in congress is completely ignored. Why are there over 300 mass shootings every year, while countries near us like Canada have nearly 0, why there are close to 40,000 killed per year by guns? Canadians have as much guns as Americans, but they somehow can co-exist with each other. Somehow from 1968-2011, there has been over 1.4 million gun related homocides in the US, that is more than all the wars the US has had from Independence to now, and reminder, we get into a war around every 20-30 years, including two world wars. But of course, people would like to worry about the 2,000 people that are killed by ISIS every year in a country that we don't inhabit.
How come George Bush can get away with handing over 800 billion dollars of our tax money to pharmaceutical companies using congress men such as Billy Tauzin who use the pathetic plea such as, "I love my mom, and you do to, so pass this act." And thus, the medicare prescription drug improvement and modernization act was signed, in which Healthcare companies were allowed to charge WHATEVER they wanted for any drug (which goes to my example of how AIDs medication sells for 750x than what it costs to make). Right when the bill was passed, 8 congressman immediately quit their jobs and worked for pharmaceutical companies, in which they made six figure digit salaries. Billy Tauzin went on to become the President and CEO of PhRMA, making over $2,000,000 a year.
I love the ignorance Americans portray towards Socialistic ideals. Howcome in 2005, a ton of politicians started saying Canada has "such terrible Healthcare" and you "would have to wait 8 months for a gastric bypass surgery." Where are the facts? I know people in the US with out of country insurance that would have been charged $20k for a surgery, but Canada covered them completely.
Lets do what Americans do best, ignore actual harms to society, and let our billionaires get richer, because of course, ISIS is a far larger problem than anything else, right?
