To much interest in the negative when it should be focused on the positive.

I agree

If Mesp has way too much gc, trade it in for credits and use to buy voodoo. What ya got to lose ? A new game style much to the chagrin of others and you may find delightful for a while.
And Sly... Don't cry over lost revenue's. Just don't put up with it.
Back a few weeks ago, we in Aye's felt we were also starting to get targeted with voodoo to a point of excess.
What happened was, some of us (many) sold out the trade stuff and started to entertain other forms of income. Plunder, throwing voodoo when a choice opportunity shows, no more 'Mr. Nice Guy"attitude.
The attacks has reduced on our membership substantially.
Now, I'm not saying they are afraid to attack us... no..not at all but why bother when there are easier sheep to feed from that has far less risk involved.
If you insist on being a floating gold farm and feed the pirates with no reprisals for the theft, expect the Pirates to be back.
Not sure how ? Just a training guild ? Expand your talents and those who are of a more aggressive nature, time to defend your guild mates and make attacks more trouble than it;s worth to the attacker, Yea... you will have to reduce your trade fleets but it's so easy now with the ship market. Not like the 'old' days.
Change and evolve with the game or go extinct and make the pirates stronger.
Now I know SSTG has a few nasty tricks left in their arsenal of voodoo and believe me, another round of what Banger experienced will do wonders towards reducing attacks on the guild.
There...that's the gentlest way I can kick you in the arse and say " Buck up Buccaneer'

I had this conversation with someone the other day. I started out in Helm as strictly a trader and nation player. I got raided over and over. At one point I had twice as many losses as wins and my lifetime plunder balance was ridiculously negative. I finally got sick of it and sought out some of the most notorious in the game. Learned, rebuilt, rebuilt over and over again.
I got tired of being a target so I changed my focus. Now I still make my daily trade income, I am actually profitable goldsmith now, and shipwright for credits. I plunder for profit as well. Now I am still a target for some, but for different reasons. No longer just a farm though.
This isn't the style of play for everyone but I actually find it much more entertaining and I am enjoying the game more than ever.
To quit and use an excuse that you make to much gold per day and there is no challenge anymore, I say this. Come join me on some of the top 10 lists.
And to Sly. Message Monty. She is actually a good source. Talk to the very people that raid you and get their perspective. I learned so much from Shadow after he raided me. And believe it or not, Haron taught me a lot after Merc raided me. Admiral Nelson, Vane, and yes, even Banger. Believe it or not 9 out of 10 times these people are willing to help. They will explain why you were targeted and help you to understand what you can do to limit it, and even how to exact a bit of payback. Shadow always says he welcomes retaliation and I can speak from experience, he really does. He expects it, but also willing to spend a few minutes explaining things to you.
As much as some of us are vilified, hated and blamed, everyone I have named here helped me in one way or another and I guarantee would be willing to help you as well.
Sometimes a simple note asking "Why" or a "How can I" question will yield a wealth of information.
