BREAKING NEWS! TOK - Citizen Outrage.

Postby Argo » Sun Dec 12, 2021 9:13 pm

Ahoy Scallies and Wenches -

MIAB been on hiatus... but stirred to life this morning as the editor's office was jam packed with citz crying and yelling about corruption and such ... and wanting the public to know of their plight .. So, here we go! Something is stirring in Tokelau. Seems all is not quite right.

Concerned citizens have contacted MIAB outraged at the goings on in Tokelau.
(I had to give them some of some left over Morgans rum to calm them down)... What is happening over there? We have sent our intrepid reporters to follow up on this breaking story and will bring you more news as it comes to hand

Workers starve whilst plantation owners & traders alike face bankruptcy as greedy Tokelau governor refuses to abide by minimum base price for tools at Baramas!!!

Details to follow.
'Greedy Tokelau governor' has the right to reply ofc... may settle down these angry and volatile citizens!!

Do we have the makings of a rebellion or even perhaps the very beginnings of a civil war?? What will happen?
Will the greedy Tok Governor see the error of his ways and explain himself ?

(All contributions to this scandalous event (and anything else) are most welcome - anon assured if requested)

Live update just in:

(Pixellated face and demonic voice tone)

Anon: In a nutshell, the port of Baramas is buying tools for less than the minimum. Look for yourself ... go to the Port Market for Baramas & look at the price being offered (19 gc), then click on Base Price where it shows tools as 20 gc!

MIAB: Do you think its deliberate? Or that he maybe just hasn't thought to change things?

Anon:It's probably a software bug, but then again I wouldn't put it past the Tolkenese ... after all El Draque hadn't reported it ...( plus it makes much better headlines ... gutter press at it's best) :D

"Spokesperson for the Guild of Master Toolmakers calls for boycott on Baramas as Governor attempts to deny charges of bribery & corruption"

We have to ask the questions - Another concerned citizen asks MIAB and the Governor of Baramas -

Anon: What is the Governor's role - what is expected of him/her?
Shouldn't a port governor be on top of this sort of thing? Why haven't you reported it if it is not of your own doing?

The people wont leave the MIAB offices until they have their answer!!!

Governor?

MIAB is receiving numerous responses to this dire situation.. as we sort through them - More news to hand ...

Yet another -

Anon: Argo, I got the truth about why tools are so dirt cheap in Baramas. It's because of that old sea hag flooding their markets with cheap, mass produced tools made with love!

And people. Looooots of people.

This is turning into a need for possible investigation ... what is happening in Baramas?

BARAMASGATE.? :D

Is this an innocent oversight from our prestigious and respected Governor El Draque or ... (dah dah dah-dah..... drum roll)

.. a worried citizen asks, "has Tokelau been guilty of "willful blindness" , deliberately ignoring the fault for their own gain???"

...

As the Governor of Baramas, I was indeed un-nerved by the rabble rousing as my ship came into port. I was on a sourcing trip for iron and wood. To see the signs saying defund the constables and the parrots "Squaks" to cancel our wonderful services all stemming is preposterous.

Let me get settled in after my long trip and I will gladly share the economics behind why Baramas and Tok is so successful!

As the governor of St. Martin, and a tool producer, I can indeed confirm that I did help flood the markets of Baramas with mass produced tools made with love!

And People. But they signed the contract so it was all consensual and legal. Speaking of which, anyone want's to sign a contract for a brand new ship! :hh

Alright fair citizens!! Our illustrious Governor of Baramas has agreed to listen to your outrage and respond in kind. Hopefully he can explain this.
Entering the office of MIAB this early morn, stepping over numerous drunken bodies ( Morgan left more rum than I thought), I found a few more parchments of complaint ...

"Here you go Argo. Here's a statement from William One Eye - governor of Tortoga.

The former Egyptian slaves now working as freemen in the port of tortuga are exceptional crafstmen and make the finesest tools in all of Avonmora.

Our manufacturers deserve fair purchase prices!"

And this - from one of the mighty the Water Gods hisself!!!

"This tools-Vid21 issue is without a doubt very unfair to the peoples of Avonmora!

REPARATIONS. We demand reparations for past and continuing harms. The government of Tokelau, responsible banks and other institutions that have profited off of the harm they have inflicted on privateer and trader peoples. OR ELSE!"
TomLowe, Water God.

MIAB asks the gathering angry mob to keep their cool and let the Governor of Baramas defend -

In the meantime, the Governor of St MARTIN has offered to put anyone on her factory line - ( as resource not paid worker) should you find yourself amongst the most outspoken of rabble-rousers and trouble-makers ..

or.. (she is a little crazy that old hag) or.. I suspect its more just because she wants the resources ... :o: (I mean, last I saw of her she was watching the crowds gather, rubbing her hands together and I'm sure I saw some salivation going on ... those teeth .. oh I digress)

Please continue to forward your distress and complaints to the offices of MIAB.. or you are welcome to post directly.
Thank you.

Me thinks there be more 'rigging' going on in Baramas than on the high seas ^^
