The Flying Dutchman Truth Has Been Revealed

MEET THE CREW - CALADAN

Image
Hi lass!"
A large man with a wide grin and an air of self assuredness sits himself down on the chair opposite Argo in a quiet corner of the Tavern. She nods back at him and points to the rum sitting waiting for him on the table.

Caladan cracks a few jokes to break the ice promising Argo he is not only perfect but funny and modest as well!
"I be starting at the beginning then..
Aye, I first dropped in to Avonmora on day 1691, had a look around and thought: meh, this ain't for me.

Then a couple of months later, I was bored one day, and I figured I could go back to PG and give it a chance. and boy am I glad I did !

When I came back and checked my inbox, there were invites from several guilds, but Pulpop was the only one to send a personal msg along with the invite, so that's why I joined Merc really.

I came out kinda strong and almost got addicted to the fighting lol
Think it took me around 20 days to reach 1k battles and another 20 to reach 1k wins. That was a lot of fun, but as the newb I was, I didn't think about all the danger I amassed on my war-fleets, which was several thousand lol

This, of course, caught the eye of some raggedy players, think they were from VUDU and TNP, and maybe someone else also, so they stole most of my sotl fleets while I was offline.

That was my first big lesson in this game, and a hard one at that.
But quitting the game never crossed my mind, i just started from scratch again. "

He winks at Argo as he takes another swig from the bottle.
" Well to be honest with ye, I wasn't completely broke lol, and I rebuilt my war-fleets."

He laughs as he remembers.."... This time I decided to actually listen to Pulpop's advices lol
Not long after, we had a little skirmish against VUDU, and I was clueless when it came to voodoo during that war.
I was throwing iron golems at Will One Eye to check if he had an MB up lol

I learned so much during that war and it was so much fun that I really didn't want it to end! lol
I started out as a fighter in this game, ship battles and stealing ships was all I cared about. there is no greater rush than the one you get when you steal a sotl fleet in less than 30 seconds, without anyone in the guild having time to react and help!

I will return to that playstyle one day
I have been invited to several guilds during my years here, but there is only T'zak Ryn for me.
I'm a merc until i die! (or until Pulpop kicks me for not paying enough attention to profit) lol

Id say the thing that got me laughing the most during my time here so far, was the time when I got Zeph to commandeer 3 (think it was 3) of Banger's sloops.
That got me laying on the floor crying ...

After that I bribed Pulpop to change Zeph's guild rank to 'sloop master.' (It was well worth the 2 good sotl's) lol
I consider myself a jack of all trades, except where diplomacy is concerned.
I'm a fighter not a politician lol

But one of my strengths (in my opinion, others may see it as a weakness), is that I just don't care about losses.
You can steal all my ships and I'll just rebuild and have fun recouping my losses .."
** Argo stifles a cough.. She nods at him to continue...
'
My advice to new players would be to talk to experienced players, there are many of them willing to share their knowledge, have fun and don't take the game too serious. Take your time and learn the different aspects of the game.

In my opinion the game is currently favoring traders, you can set up plantations and run them with zero risk, this have to change!!

The fabled flagship would be a nice addition though. Also some way to attack plantations.
If I lived in the Golden Age of Piracy...I'd.... probably be sitting on the deck of my flagship drinking rum with PP and TA, while listening to Clockwork rambling about his next scheme and watching Zeph trying to look suave with his fleet of sloops lol '

Historical Interest: Ships

Preussen: The German ship Preussen was the largest sailing ship wonder at the time of its launch at the start of the 20th century. Artistically ingenious, the ship’s hull was made of steel and was powered with five fully rigged masts. At that time, the sail ship boasted of being the only vessel to have five masts with fully rigged sails.

Used as a cargo ship to transport nitrate in the South American continent, the Preussen met with an untimely and untidy end when the Brighton – a steamer, ran it down.
