The man who has given us so much, thrills, spills, bites and memes...oh the memes! I am sure on behalf of all of PG, we can sincerely thank you for the draft.

I started the draft over 5 years ago. I love to play Fantasy Football with my friends. Before COVID we would rent out a meeting room, bring in a bunch of food and booze and draft our teams. Picking the best, available player to fill our squad for the season. Its just good clean fun. My idea was to bring that concept to the world of Pirates Glory.

Fantasy Draft #1 was born. Never did I think we would be playing more than 4 years later. Never did I expect players to contribute Trillions of gold coin for this contest. Like drafting with my friends IRL, the Fantasy Draft here for me was some of the best times I've had in the game. But it's hasn't been with out some headache as well.

With anything new, you can't foresee all possible outcomes. You can't prepare for everything that will come to pass. You also can't please hundreds of players who have input on how they think the draft should be ran or changed for the better. Having said that, here we are 5 years later, still drafting and having fun. (most of us anyway)

Fantasy Draft #6 - I admit that I had grown a little tired of the draft after #6. I wanted to have #6 be the last one. A contest of Champions. I think it went pretty well and my plan to stop was only cemented in more as some IRL personal changes happened too. My time availability to run the draft, how I like to run it, just isn't here. After some time, I was approached by Teach for #7 and then by Clockwork for #8. I gave my blessing to both and stayed on as a small advisor and banker for the drafts.

Fantasy Draft #8 - Holy DONATIONS! To have 2.7 Billion in Gold Coin donated for this draft blew my mind. I honestly didn't know how the community would respond to another draft after a lot of displeasure from #7. I must admit, that the new rule put in place to not be able to pick certain players who've been picked first so many times really changed the draft (for me at least). I really like it. It brought a fresh new look to the draft that has, for the most part, looked very similar for so long. All the teams made this time around are terrific and we have some fresh new faces too! WIN WIN.
All in all, I think the Draft is great and I think its here to stay. Clockwork and Deznuts have done a good job putting some life back into it. I want to thank them for taking up the torch. ~ Shadowood

In the days leading up to Fantasy Draft viii excitement in Slack reached a high with lots of laughter and pre draft gibes setting the mood..
Cutlasses were drawn and memes were cast before the excitement even spilled over into the forums in time for the first pick.
Our first Captain appeared (after the usual acceptable and classy late entrance) and began to speak...the arena fell silent in anticipation.
Who would Banger pick?

The anticipation nicely built, Banger went and said it, " xPro".
Many were heard to nod and mutter "duh...of course.." .. Clearly, a popular choice, Banger!
Extra barrels of Rum to xPro being first cab off the rank.
(Some were heard to utter later to have not only xPro on your team but PP and Hawkins too, that it could be regarded as cheating - that comment actually went unopposed.)

With El Draque a most awesome Em -Cee and Haron providing us with excellent commentary how could we not be amused?

Thank you all the hearties for doing such a great job keeping the energy up with your entertaining commentary.
(Barrels of Rum to El Draque and an extra one for Haron as well for he even provided some numbers and stuff for those that way inclined and explained for those who are not. Very considerate indeed).

Congrats to all the participants, voters, viewers, victims and victors alike - making a great draft enjoyable and fun...leaving us eagerly awaiting another!

Congratz to the Captains and their considered selections and the sincerity with which you invited your crew on board. It is noted.

In regards to the draft and the members of my team I would like to thank Lana, Tom Lowe, JB Duke and Leo for their input to the story I was wanting to put together for the draft, a special thank you to Caladan and Lockreed for their massive input and I apologise for not printing anything in regards to your efforts (it was much appreciated regardless).
A inspiring acknowledgement from CDV for his 'go team Anne' messages was appreciated.

I hope the gold you gained from the draft fills your ******* and chokes you on your own *** *and ***** ***** in the time it took you to look up and read this!

No, congratulations to all captains, and it was a fun draft. I look forward to the next one, and hope we all do.
I, personally, didn't aim too much for a victory; but the comedy. Sure it could've brought a victory, and I believe, despite my goal, I did pick a strong team.
