Create your own nation discussion

Mack gave me an idea to make this post on the previous forum so here is what came to mind.

Creat your own nation. Simple enough yes?

Price to make your own nation: 500 million gold. Expensive yes? Of course. Its a permanent investment like a hideout and like hideout, gives an achievement and has its own customizations. Up to 20 characters for your nation’s name.

Like a guild, a custom nation will have General discussion forums, war forums, and Organization forums.

The custom nation has the same mechanics as the normal nations have EXCEPT eotc players cannot climb further than they already have, members of the nation can kick any player with a vote instead of just inactives, and these votes go for 2 days instead of the normal 3.

Like the customizable ship appearences, your flag is customizable. The idea was to incorporate it like a website i know of that allows you to make your own flag. Two websites in fact. This isnt really advertising, but a way to give you guys how i want this interface to be set up.

The websites are fakeflag.net and flag-designer.appspot.com. These are the interfaces that i would prefer to use when making a flag. Fakeflag uses parts of all flags know and then allows you to take those pieces into your own flag. Flag-designer has premade symbols, colors, and backgrounds available to make your own flag.

Options for owner of the flag include:

Exceptions made for certain players- meaning the founder of the flag can allow players to not require to pay ship taxes or gain hostility when attacking leace treatied nations and allianced nations.

Giving nation ownership titles to other players.

Increase anount if dukes possible in nation. Minimum of 5 and max of 25.

Up to 1 king and 1 queen. Both can be there. 2 kings and 2 queens is allowed. This can be disabled or enabled by the founder. The 2nd king or queen has 15 vote power and not 20 instead. Can veto however 4/3 of the votes can ovveride the veto set in place by the 2nd queen/king. Example: if 33 votes are placed and a veto is issued, it has to be 44-33 to override the 2nd king/queens veto. Both kings and queens cannot veto the same vote. However the 1st king can override the veto of the 2nd king/queen and cancel out the veto set in place.

The 2nd king and queen is set by the founder or 1st king/queen however this can be bypassed if a player has double the influence of the 2nd ming or queen. For example. If im 1st king and i assign medici as 2nd king and he has 15million influence, and stan rogers wishes to take the 2nd king throne, it would require him 30 million influence to take it at minimal.
The 1st king can only be taken from his throne if the council has 200 votes winning to kick the 1st king from his seat, and the 2nd king/queen is to vote yes in this as well. If the 2nd does not vote yes, the vite wont pass. If the vote passes, the 2nd takes place as high king/high queen. For example: even if the vote is 235-35, since the 2nd voted no, the vote fails. The onky way to beat that is to have 300 more votes than opposing side

The founder will always stay founder however he may “disband the nation.” If this happens, all members of the nation are made pirates and the gold from the treasury is buried at a random port as the founders treasure. Turns cannot be invested into that buried treasure, however the treasure can be excavated, but only 45 days after burial.

If the founder leaves the nation, he may either - give away the 1st king title and keep owning rights, give away ownership rights and 1st kingship, keep ownership rights and let the 1st king title be a finders keepers title for the first to make to marquess, or outright disband the nation altogether at the moment he leaves.

Founder cannot disband the nation after the choice is made while outside of the nation. Founder must make 1st kingship to disband. Only the founder can disband the nation. No exceptions.

Only the founder and 1st king have access to adjusting these features:
Rates for tax paying citizens is 15gc instead of 5gc. Same amount of citizens pay.
Ship taxes max limit is 500k and maximum hostility storage is 5000.
Adjustable vote power of ranks for the nation. Minimum for each rank is set as the standard for normal nations. Ex: minimum for marquess is 5 like normal.
Adjustible names for ranks of nation.
Founder and 1st king can change laws instantly if 60% of the council seats are not filled. If the founder is the 1st king, that person can change the laws instantly regardless of council size.
Founder can mark the nation as closed, however everyone in the council except the kings gain 5 hostility points per hour that the nation is closed. When the nation is closed, no one can leave and no one can enter. If the hostility limit is reached for a player, they are kicked from the nation. Payouts are still made to the players if the vote is yes and the player is booted.

What do you guys think?

While I like the idea of making your own nation, but the extra bonuses it has over your classic nations is a big no no, while you may think 500 mill is a lot, remember that there are plenty of players that has billions buried or in bank.

What I think it should be.

You can create your own nation for 1 billion, will become the king, you can name the nation and create its flag and even write its own story if you want.
When you leave, the nation stays there, and acts just like any normal nation, but the name, flag and story can never be changed.

You can create more nation after that, but they all come at 1 billion cost more than the last.

You will be given a achievement as it's founder, and instead of being just a ruler in the past ruler list, your name will be yellow and is placed as the founder.

for create your own nation - I would suggest it is not permanent - it should require an renewal to stay active.

I am going to suggest variable nation political structure. Each would have different available laws and benefits, titles,
some perhaps may have customizeable titles
any nation including existing nations could be reassigned by current leadership.

Rebellion - splinter faction of existing nation, with purpose of changing current nations political structure or taking over the nation.
- must be a new nation or restart of previous rebellion
- rebellion nations end if the goal is achieved
- rebellion perhaps requires startup funds and a specific number of players opting in to initiate

variants of the current system

Coalition - no defined leader, equal partnership by leading members
Regime - dictatorship or singular group control
Democracy - elected officials
Monarchy - current structure

Changing from one system may have to be logical.

a coalition could create a regime that could turn into a monarchy.
but for a democracy to become a monarchy it would have to be voted in.

Pirate - pirate republic suggestion - pirate nations can only be created by members flying the black

Yes! Nice, I thought of the same thing, but I don't want to go to the trouble of writing down how each system goes.

-1 A drawback that I see to this is that there are already 200+ nations in this game to pick and choose from. Unless the number of hardcoded nations is reduced significantly to something around 25-30, this will do nothing but compound the number of nations in the game.

This is basically Guild Nations (Guilds own ports), not to be confused with Nation Guilds. There is a stark difference between the two and something that I don't think should be introduced in game play.
