Random Events!

I was thinking that a way of spicing up trading fleets set on a continuous trade route, random events could occasionally occur when travelling from one place to the next.
Not that I ahve any idea how simple or not these will be to implement, here are some suggestions:
- Scurvy or other diseases could hit the fleet, making crew die and disappear
- Storms causing your fleet to hit rocks (loss of cargo or levels down a ship)
- Cannon backfires during a practice run (loss of cannons, crew)
- Treasure map found (gain of money)
- Ancient piratey scrolls found (gain a bonus attribute point for lead ship of the fleet)
- High winds got your boat to its destination extra fast/slow (could be costly if it makes the danger go up!)
...ye get the idea. Not all winners but this sort of random eventing could help keep things interesting. Any opinions, or ideas of events?
