How Development works

Any game related discussion can take place here. Examples: Discuss about how bad the merchant rates have been lately, how rich you have became by following this specific strategy which now needs to stop etc etc

And as far as this goes....

"The drawbacks are obvious. This discussion. The impression that certain players are provided favor over others."

This is not an impression......this is a fact that CJ has admitted. He admitted he favors the opinions of certain veterans over everyone else.

This was not random post brought on by a single incident. On 3 separate occasions I have had this discussion with CJ on 3 separate topics. The discussions were in depth enough to know he understands and there is no language barrier issue.

Where I admitted such a thing, Feniks? Can you copy and paste? Or point to a post? It's absurd and it is getting old. I really do not have time for such.

The dev team doesn't get any special considerations. I've provided many comments and opinions to CJ as part of the Dev Team that have garnered no response or have been put on the side. My opinion matters no more than yours. The only influence I have is in providing a vote and opinion to discussions and suggestions in effort to get development moving forward in a more efficient manner. The ability to provide a vote is open to anyone willing to apply to the team.

Then what is the point..... why not have an open forum vote and allow all to vote instead of a select group, This seems to reinforce my point
not dissuade it in anyway.

As Dez said anyone can apply to join the team and help work through the suggestions. I would say part of the reason why we should use a team to help go through all the ideas rather then the whole forum is that with a team of dedicated volunteers to carefully examine each suggestion and discuss it in a non biased manner. If we open it for everyone to vote some may let biases affect their decision, some may not have the time to properly read and discuss every topic.

And again, anyone can apply for the team. But it is a commitment. When you join them your committing time to the group, and need to be unbiased in your decisions. Not everyone can spare the time to go through all the suggestions and discuss them.

I find the argument that anyone can apply in the team as uneeded. It a good argument but the whole discussion should end before we get to this argument. EVERYONE can post in every topic, every idea and every suggestion and help without being in the team.

This is why after all we now have this requirement for those interested to be in the team: You first need to get involved in the discussion. This should give the signal that everyone's input is still needed.

Danik is a good example: he constantly helps the player dev team from day one. EVERYONE can be like Danik... well, you get what I mean.

Next time, I will pass my suggestions to SHM, Black Sparrow Lodswe or CDV and have them propose them. Maybe then they will at least get a discussion instead of being "archived"

Excellent idea. Could you write down your suggestions on some nice soft toilet paper and pass them around, that way we will be able to use them in a productive way. Thanks, from the 'Rough Cheeks' crew

I agree except the part about EVERYONE can be like Danik. My father-in-law, the Governor of Tortuga, doesn't like me as it is, I don't think the smell of donkeys is going to help.

Everyone should be providing their opinions and being constructively involved in the discussions. Complaints about development, the make up of the Dev Team, its use-fullness, tasks, etc., I find to be a crap excuse to find fault. There are plenty of things that one can do to make a difference in the development of this game and for most of it, it requires simply typing out a post on a forum topic.

What needs to be understood is that things take time. The more work that needs to get done, the more time it takes to get things done. The more people you have working on the tasks, the more tasks can be completed at the same time saving time in the long run. So when 1 person is doing all of the tasks, things either take a really long time, or somethings just get left behind and forgotten. When things get backlogged, it takes time to clean up, on top of all the other things that need to be worked out.

So what I'm really getting at is if you want to bring forth suggestions that you think should be reviewed for development, apply for the Dev Team. When and if accepted, find the topic, set if for review, and provide your vote and point of view. If you aren't willing to do this, then wait patiently, because the Dev Team will eventually get there. There is a method to how we are reviewing topics and it is done in a way so we don't continue to leave topics sitting for years.

How Development Works - Part 2

Postby sXs » Tue Jan 15, 2019 12:36 pm

The fact that you basically need to beg for people to get involved shows you more than you know. One only needs to look at CJs last two topics on training guilds and player estates . Look at the people he feels deserve a direct response to see who is important in his mind. After those few select people the rest do not matter.

Again, ask yourself why you need to beg everyone else to be involved. Just ask those worthy of CJs time.
