More often than not, things are done for the guilds that drag nations to it

Off topic for the post subject, but I do have a thought on the subject none the less... ;)

I am in agreement, but how to do it in a way that prevents abuse is the question. I would not want to see a situation where a few players lock up a nation and only let the players in that they want there.

I would think that it should be easy for anyone to join a nation and difficult to remove/deport them (as I understand it currently is not easy to do);

BUT, I would think that a nation should have the ability to ban a player that has been successfully deported from a nation.

Perhaps the process by which an active player is deported could be improved? We have not had to do that yet, so I am not sure how the process works entirely.

While a guild bank - or guild treasury, as we call it - is very important for a guild, this is also something which is easy to handle without any actual game mechanics. In the T'zak Ryn, we've had a guild treasury for a very long time. It is kept by a player, who keeps track of how much is in the guild treasury, to distinguish this from his or her personal stash. Thus, although this is perhaps the most important feature, it is also one which is easy to handle without any new mechanics.

A "tech tree" or "artifacts" sound interesting. I see many possibilities here. If there are "tech trees", I, too, would like there to be "hard choices" in these; you need to choose which path to go.

As for "artifacts", these could even be part of Avonmora wide contests. Say at a certain date, the admin announces a Guild Contest. Whichever guild wins that contest, gets an artifact.

I had also thought I should change the term from a guild bank to a guild treasury. I will edit the original post to reflect this.

As for having a guild treasury managed by a player- It can and is done, but how do you transfer it if guild leadership changes? Or what if the player managing the treasury drops out for some reason? It would not take much to create a guild treasury that is funded by guild member activities. This would require members to contribute, and players unwilling to commit to such support of their guild would leave to find a new one. Of course you can just tell members now to send gold to the guild member responsible for managing the guild treasury and kick them if they don't, but that can get messy. I would favor a simple guild treasury mechanic.

As for artifacts- there is a lot you could do with it. I favor artifacts being found through exploration, but contests for such items or contests for new ones being added to the game would be fun.

There would have to be a way for them to be potentially lost into the game world though. I would think that ships that are skirmished or plundered while carrying the items from the location where they are found to their guild hive would have a chance of the items being lost to sea rather than stolen.

Items lost to sea could be found in the area through further exploration by players and, theoretically, those items could be picked up by NPCs and carried anywhere in the game world. Players could thus find lost artifacts on NPC characters, and players could also learn through exploration about lost items being found by NPC characters and carried away to other locations in Avonmora or lands beyond the map, should any such exploration feature ever be added to the game.
