Card Swap/Market Overhaul

Postby Xepshunall » Sat Oct 27, 2012 3:36 am

I think it is clear that the Card Market has gained enough popularity to justify a much more user-friendly interface. I propose a menu-driven version in which you begin with a single page that lists the following:
1.) Name of each Card Title that can be found in the auction at present
2.) How many of each are available
3.) Lowest and highest bid/offered price
4.) When the first one will expire.
A check-box would be positioned in front of each of the titles and every Card Title that has been selected will show all of it's offerings when the player clicks the "See your Choices" (just an example) button. I this way, the player would avoid seeing several pages of Antagonize and Taxation (for example) if the player has no interest in that particular curse.

I still believe there should be a mechanism that allows instant transfer of a card from one player to another. I've had regrets when working with other players that had the turns to cast a spell while I didn't and I had the card while the other didn't. I could see how this option could be reserved for guilds only but I would like to point out that I work with guilds as needed and would like to support their efforts without attaching my name to their Memberlist.

I like the proposed menu format. I like it very much. We will discuss about it and see what (and when) we can do about it.

For some strange reason, whenever I hear ideas of instant transfer, I instantly think "No, no way, don't even think about it". I guess that my past experiences in the development of other games are the root of these thoughts.

I tried to explain the reasons HERE and I ended up with a HUGE reply; so I deleted it.
So in a brief note; this is not going to happen. What seems like a small innocent feature like this, is a game changer.

I am really happy that we can use our game development experience in decisions like this one and avoid what could be really hazardous in the future.

I like the card market to stay as it is . the only thing i would like to see different is the length of time a card takes to sell . currently it is 72 hours from time of post. would prefer to see it cut to 48 hours. there are alot of us that would rather use the cards than wait 3 days to get it. no one would be slighted or by passed in this tweak. but would keep people in game watching for time drop.

Now that you mention it, I have cards I'd be willing to wait indefinitely for a buyer to take interest in and others I'd like to sell in 24 hours or less.
Most bids that I cast are outbid within a couple of hours until I bid as high as I'm willing to go. The card market is too slow on the turn-around in cases where the bid is not likely to rise and too fast when no bids are placed on a card that has sold for the asking price in the past. If a player is in a hurry to get credits from sale of his card, he might want to have the market pay out the instant someone reaches a set point, I'd like to see seller options for:

1.) Sell when bid reaches X gold
2.) Length of auction = X days (1 to 7)
3.) Re-auction if no bids
4.) Accept current bid and end auction
5.) Remove item from auction

I agree with X... some cards should last longer than others. Also you should be able to set a price you would like to accept. It should be a different section though, maybe not an auction type, but a market. You put something up there for a price and you can directly buy it from someone. You should be able to use in game money as well for those. People would pay millions for certain cards.

Since there are many useless cards in my inventory and since I have offered them up on the card market, there is a page choosing option in the market that reads"Go to page: __/136" I can't make good use of these cards so the market will continue to hold them until they sell, which is unlikely so it will be full of my cards indefinitely.
Maybe the current state of the voodoo auction will help to point out, to those who are hesitant to change it, the reason it should be overhauled.
There may be an excellent deal on a great card that was offered while I was putting hundreds of virtually useless cards into the market. If that is true then the seller will most likely get his card back after 72 hrs and somebody will be one great curse short of his potential.
If this happens, a card that wasn't bought won't cost someone credits so they won't need to get more credits. Maybe that information will get the ball rolling. I will do my part to make it more of a concern until the necessary steps are taken to improve the card auction. I like my idea, you like it and when it's enacted, everyone who uses the auction will love it.
The changes that have come are minor and any any one of them is easily viewed as unsubstantial. As a whole, the changes have made the game better. Bugs get prompt attention although I can't be sure about the worth of that attention in light of Achillies' recent surrender of a corrupt fleet that wasn't properly dealt with. It is clear that you aren't sitting on your hands. That doesn't stop people from asking when some of the more significant improvements are coming. I see the voodoo market improvement as a necessity but I would be even more excited to see the nations features come to fruition. I'm not alone in this. At least half of the players I communicate with are anxious to see Nation bases of operation and gold as freight. Half of that half say that they are on the verge of giving up on the game and ask if I've learned anything of the features' impending implementation. I have to pass on the disappointment that I myself feel. Some of us have prepared ourselves for the Nations Features and yet......
I don't know whether you have any information on it but the more you keep players in the dark, the more discontented they become. Please shed some light and let us know if our continued loyalty is justified.

X is right the card market needs overhauled. People have been abusing the way it is currently set up . They found that by flooding it with single cards they can virtually shut down trading and not be worried that cards can be sold. so before they attack they can keep everyone from purchasing any thing to help them selfs out of a jamb after being attacked.

Well, I can see no abuse but SPAMMING.
It has no meaning to open 100 auctions for 1 card instead of like 10 auctions.

This is the last time that administration will allow such practises. Next time that such is detected, we reserve the right to cancel all of them and strip the ability of said player to use the market.

Since we have more interesting things to develop right now rather than spam filters for the market, a spam policy has been created. You will find it in the auction page.

I agree that the card market is extremely lame right now. But, how can you limit one person's auction listings? If I have 100 of a desired card that I want to list on the market that would be VALUABLE to other players, then why can I not list them all singly. Bulking cards together in one auction is sometimes not advantageous to either the buyer or the seller. By saying what you said is sort of hypocritical and reveals the fact that a lot of the common cards are useless. This, I guess, is another problem altogether. If we are forced to list cards in bulk on the auction, then, in essence, you are forcing players to buy more credits. I know your intention is to keep the game going by selling credits, but for some players that do not have the means to purchase numerous credits, you are limiting what they can buy on the auction. Some players may only have 1 or 2 credits that they have to spend and by having bulk cards listed they may not be able to afford them, overall limiting them to participating in the card market and missing out on a valuable part of the game.
