Yes, that's why it's important for hideouts to be the place for attacking troops to be trained.

However, no option to "occupy" would be available if you do not own a plant in that port with OP.

If you do not like that thentell me why. I have been very clear on the reasons why I am opposed to the Hideout solution with examples as to why. All I get in return are begative comments and bullshit responses.

This is the type of crap that caused so many of the issues with this damn game. Cant simply argue on merit. Have to resort to flaming and BS.

Yes i did the same but only after 2 people attacked me.

No wonder only 5-6 people comment onthese threads. There was a time when you would here from half the players in the game.

Congratulations to the duly designated troll of the game. you are responsible for a good deal of the people no longer even stating an opinion in forums.

So if people comment contrary to your viewpoint its trolling flaming etc and if they don't comment its not because they cant argue on merit its because they are scared to be trolled aka have their view picked apart and/or ridiculed.

This was a pirate game when I joined and it drew people in with action now its a hot mess of boring that runs new players off. Of 15 people I have brought here 3 remain.
Perhaps this cringe version ever trending to protected boredom is at fault, the only wording I would blame for this is in the coding not trolling. :D

The idea of someone complaining making hundreds of millions about a small loss in addition to milking with the port gold bar hack is hilarious.
trying to mix reality with a game to a nonsensical point is ludicrous.
Reality would not have the population of small countries working plantations and to act as if the goods are stored in the fields with those millions of workers is asinine.
A raid by definition is not taking everything you have its about targeting the goods for what you can carry from where they are stored so your workers are moot garbage or your goods are eroded by sitting in the dirt amid the weather not to mention the theft from your workers taking a toll.
Raids by definition are a surprise so no you wont get an equal chance to defend because... that reality you are touting about.
3 days to defend was your saving grace which was cjs way to overprotect the traders the best he could.... as he always has.

If this game had the numbers it used to you wouldn't have 21 plantations you have them due to the lack of players so to pretend to be entitled to some crazy amount of protection is crazy but don't worry cj always caters to the traders so we will row by in a lifeboat and maybe get out with 1 bale of something :D :D :D

It should be possible to discuss rules without snide remarks or attacks on other people.

Anyway: What is the PURPOSE of plantation battles? I think that is the right way to start.

If it as a way for a big plantation owner to attack another big plantation owner, I do not think that is a good idea. Nor do I think it would work, simply because if players A and B have basically the same setup, then if A is able to attack B and does so, then B will be willing to attack A in retaliation. This would mean that attacks would not happen at all.

I think that plantation battles should be a way to prevent plantations from being safe. Just like trading gives you a huge income, but it can be subject to plunder, something similar should be the case for plantations. Yes, they give you a huge income, but someone may attack them and steal something from you and possibly destroy something. That is my opinion.

I am also not worried about those already having large plantations being attacked. It was made clear when plantations were introduced that while they would be safe for now, sooner or later (obviously later...) there would be some mechanism to attack them. It was also stated that it should be easier to maintain small and medium sized plantations than large ones. Also, with all the time passed since plantations were introduced, most plantations will already have paid back more than they cost. And if they haven't yet, they sure will before plantation battles are introduced. This will not happen tomorrow, after all.

Another benefit to this feature is all the large plantation owners who seem to be struggling more lately due to inflated acreage costs would have the ability to come together and perhaps rectify the situation. Just something to consider.

I agree with what Haron has said. When I think about Plantation battles, I don't think of two mega plantations warring with each other, I don't think of a mega plantation owner killing off small plantation owners... I think of Raiding Parties. I think of how it might have been during pirate times when pirates go a shore to "restock supplies" "Raid" "Loot" "Plunder". Pirates have no need for acres, but they do want that booty!

How I see this mechanic is simple. You have Guard House vs Raiding Parties. Basically it would be very similar to how Fleet vs Fleet battle mechanics work but with more death to crew and a bit more loot.

Guard Houses need to be developed. Max Guards = 1,000
Raiding party is equal to fleet crew size. Attacker needs to weigh cargo size for plunder vs crew size for attacking. 5 SOTL = 1,250 crew

--Enter ideas for dice roll here-- I like the game of RISK. 3 dye for the attacker, 2 for the defender.
--Enter ideas for voodoo here--
--Enter ideas for crew battle experience / guard experience here--
--Review idea for Hideout building "Blacksmith" and "Forge"

Raiding party can set fire to a % of crops if they are victorious. This would slow production until the crops is "repaired". If fire is not put out fire will spread at a pace of 8% growth per hour?
Raiding party loses crew and/or ships sunk if they are beaten. Loses would be converted to gold coin and sent to Planation owner.

Now if the game would like to include a mechanic to "steal or occupy" acres. Then I think this is done through a Nations mechanic. But not Plantation Battles. This would be more of a national war mechanic in my eyes.
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!
