Captain Jack Teach's Wishlist

First of all, I wanna say that this game is great and has a ton of potential. But there are some things that should be changed and or added: pirates should get ranks, there should be letters of marque, and an established naval force.
It seems to me that actual pirates have a very small part in this game, and that is simply maddeningly unhelpful. I've heard tell of most ideas that make being a pirate more interesting
have been shot down in an instant.Examples include:the Republic of Pirates Idea, and pirate ranks posted by Sir Henry Morgan.

I have heard, that pirate ideas often get shot down. Why is it that the pirate class has never advanced? I have looked through the list of approved things, none of them ever benefit pirates exclusively. Pirates need something to make their class more interesting.

In my opinion, a pirate is what you become if you are unable to be with a nation for some reason. Not exactly a punishment, but still.
Also, a "pirate" is not defined by his flag but by his actions, in my opinion. Pirate is as Pirate does. At least, that's how it USED to be. I suspect that the new diplomacy and hostility laws may change that.
And in the "Pirate is as Pirate does" sense, pirates HAVE got some things. The most important thing, although only valuable for long term pirates, is the "piracy tech". But there are other things as well, like getting scraps when ships lose levels during plunder. Increased skirmish point storage. But in terms of the pirate flag, that has few real benefits. However, the same goes for being member of a nation with no port.

I agree with most of that point. However, even members of a no-port nation have ranks. If not ranks, can't those who fly black get SOME kind of identification?

A rank is just a name. An interesting challenge for new players, but anyone with experience can gain the rank of Duke relatively easily.
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" - William Shakespeare.
Make your name known. That's what matters. Take a look at the previous Fantasy Drafts, for instance. People make a reputation here in Avonmora. You can be a King of a nation and still no one may care. Or you may "only" be a pirate, and still everyone may know your name and follow your actions, fearing that they will be your next target.
Do great deeds, and you will become famous (or notorious).

Actaully, that makes perfect sense. What's the best way for one to be a famous player.

Time that's what it takes. Keep playing keep learning do actions in the right time and you will be famouse. Whats right time? That you will learn over the time by observing and talking with veterans whom will explain situation and what lead to that...

Agreed with Wolf on that one. Time. It takes time to build. Time to gain experience
I will add, it’s take fearlessness too. Don’t be afraid to do something. You might be surprised by the results. If you succeed great! If you fail, learn from it. Learn how to adapted. If you take a few hard knocks learn how to avoid it in the future.
You have two legends of the game in your guild now. Learn from them BUT then move on. Learn from other vets too.
Send me a PM if you have any questions
