[Review] Lets make diplomacy more important!

Diplomacy is an aspect of Pirates Glory that could (should?) have a greater impact on the game.

I'd like more diplomacy linked to the actual marrying a governor's son.
In the following examples I fly the Bermuda's flag and I'm married to a governor's son in a Tokelau controlled port.

Example 1:
His influence gives my fleets a benefit in Tokelau and its allies ports (0,5% trading);
no benefits in neutral ports;
a malus in those ports controlled by a Nation at war with Tokelau (-0,5% trading).

Alternative: ports controlled by Nations at war with his (and with mine, then) are forbidden to me. My fleets cannot enter, not trade, nor buy goods, nor buy cannons and hire crew, in those ports.

Example 2:
I attack a ship from his Nation Tokelau and the % of how much he likes me drops by 50%.
This would mean those two voodoos named Ruby would get some importance. As they are now, they are important only at the beginning of the game.

Example 3:
My husband's Nation declares war against, lets say, Bermuda (my Nation). His affection toward me drops to 10% and he stops sending me presents.

Example 4:
His Nation, Tokelau, declares someone is an EotC and I attack the EotC. The benefits my husband gives me are doubled for a limited time (12 hours?)

Bump.
A little more importance to diplomacy wouldn't help wars to be more interesting?

+1000.

Diplomacy needs to be worked on badly. This whole fiasco with the US and kitts is a prime example of how pointless it currently is.

+1 diplomacy is needing some more key features to be worthwhile.

We may get into some tall weeds here, but there are also mistresses with certain ports that would prove beneficial along similar lines.

Definitely think there should be more benefits for having a spouse or consort in a given port. Maybe lower prices in the market and to rent acres for plants. Diplomatic relations with the country that holds the port should also factor in. For example, if your nation is at war with the nation in control of the port, you would not be able to sail into that port, or at least would be attacked automatically by NPC fleets guarding the port (like once per hour).
Here is a really new idea. Why can't ports build fortifications? The port could have a screen (the same way a hideout has) and build things like ramparts, cannon turrets, powder magazine, musketeer barracks, cannon foundry, etc. It would sure make being a Governor a lot more interesting.
As it is now, the Governor doesn't do anything more that collecting for Op Permits on plantations. Yawn.
