I suggest hence fourth, every year on October 24th we remember the mistake I made.

Perhaps the greatest mistake ever, which cost me 700,000,000. I donated 700,000,000 GC into Prote instead of St.Martins.

Similar to Kaptains Day, players do gain something...

Heres a few ideas:

A free level 10 Frigate named "Nelsons Fall" - If Day does not have my name in it.

A free level 10 Frigate with no name, if the day has my name in it.

With this idea, everyone gets the same prize.

Alternatively...

Prote on the day is willing to pay x2 more for products then usual (Excluding Gold Bars)

Piracy in Prote on October 24th will reward the players x2 more plunder, the excess plunder generated by the game.

With this idea, both Merchants & Pirates can profit of this.

- Nelsons Mirage
- Nelsons Bamboozle

Although if we were going to commemorate this day, I would go with during that day all influence purchases have a random chance of going to a random port.

I think this game could use some in-world holidays. So far all we got is Kaptains day, which while awesome, is pretty sad that only ONE in game holiday exists.

I also think that the day being a "holiday" should have some sort of positive effect, similar to how Kaptain's day get's you a kaptain. If I have to worry that on this day my influence might go to the wrong port, I just won't build influence on that day at all. I mean I suppose that could make it a good chance to steal a port with voodoo, since if they try to build up again, it might go to the wrong spot.

I mean so far it's 8-3 in favor of making it a day. Granted that 8 is divided on what it should be called, but more are in favor of another holiday then not.

i really do think this game needs in-game holidays to help flesh things out.

Mel, what if the influence transfer happened at random..so at any time your infl could be snipered off to another port...just once a year - you would take a risk every time you buy infl - it could/may not be capped. Only x amount max. "Oh no, my "XXX-day" card kicked in"..

How about this

On Nelson's day...

Any influence a player adds will go to a random port.
But no matter what time you add it will not be applied until nation update for maximum surprise effect.

Influence generating actions will yeild 2x your current buying power and CD will be worth 2x also.

CD Will generate amount based on the port you cast on, not the port where the inflence is applied.

If someone else casts CD on you the affect will be the same.

CD will also not add until nation update.

For Gc and cd the game will report the amount of influence added but will say influence will be applied to a random port at nation update.

Zero percent chance that influence will add to the target port.
