Players Preferred Direction of PG? - [Poll]

Postby Vane » Mon Jan 15, 2018 3:21 am

I am curious what direction the player base wishes to see the game head. There have been many, many suggestions and approved features to be implemented... none of which have been yet.

I would be very curious to know, as i am sure many others would be, which direction the majority wish to see the game head in?

I read a very insightful profile recently that went like this,

"It's a fact that who owns lots of cards and no ships can easily have a very strong impact on the game. While who has lots of ships and no cards has actually no chances to enjoy the play. Every attempt to push voodoo even more means to change this game into a CCG."

(credit is due, but name will only be revealed at the players request)

If this poll goes in the direction I predict it will, I would then petition all veteran, new, wealthy, poor and any player between to limit or stop entirely the use of voodoo to get ahead. Perhaps this train of thought is my own and if so that will be that, but I feel as though we need to all unite and push for a better system that revolves around skill, experience, tactic, real resources, and teamwork.. not cards that make one player invulnerable and a force to be feared.

When we all searched for a game and found one called "Pirates Glory", i'm sure most thought ships and battles on the high seas! Perhaps even for some, trading and economical paths. Surely not magical effects that beat any cannon?

Surely does seem to be lately...

I mean come on, with a bit of thought any effect worth keeping from voodoo can be implemented into other features in some way.

"Spy Network" - Must have a fleet in specified port, visit tavern, input desired targets ID, pay x gold, and receive random intel on specified player. (sometimes drunks cant be trusted right?)

"English Indian Company" - A renown company know for its influence, wealth, and power. Visit one of 3 ports (to be named), pay x gold for membership per week. (perhaps move up in ranks with the company and receive discounts but earn hostility with other companies?).

"Call Leviathan" - The goddess of the see herself grants you favor and the allegiance of her beasts. Requires (specified trinkets, gold, credits, etc. to earn her favor), able to sink / remove level from an enemy ship.

I could go all day but you should all get the point.

You know, I made number of sayings and suggestions on how to make voodoo rely on things other then turns, like remaking Terrorize an action that can be done using a fleet, or Sabotage done using one of your officers, but most just got ignored.

And I even talked about how too many things can be done with voodoo. But that was ignored too. I guess, it takes someone who is well known to others to speak up about it before people really care huh?

That actually gives me an idea, we should make it to where the wild nation can actually be incorporated somewhat into the game. Like you can do things that would please it, or things that upset it, and it can have rewards and consequences. This could be done using the honor and hostility points. What those actions can be, is up for debate, but i think its kinda sad and lame that we have wild nature in the game, but it has no real impact.

One of the rewards could be to summon creatures to attack ships. And depending on how much of a good relation you have with nature the better the creature.

You made many suggestions on voodoo as well.

My point here is not the turns involved, but the fact we have voodoo in general.

I get the fact it was necessary in the beginning due to lack of time to develop actual features able to conduct specific realistic actions. That time has now lapsed and the game needs to move past "cards"..

I disagree we need to remove voodoo. But it should be limited and cut down a bit. But I really like the idea of keeping some voodoo. Right now there exists 90 cards. I say it would be nice to cut it down if possible to 30. Maybe a little more or maybe a little less. But I do agree many of the features in voodoo should be transferred elsewhere.

I think that some voodoos must be removed, replaced with ingame actions can be done using, fleets, ships, gold, items. While some must be left untouched. Untouched voodoo are voodoo that would be generally useful to new players, like Iron Golem.

Voodoo are easy to use, useful for newer players who don't have the resource to spend other resources for actions.
