Original Discussion can be found here.

Step 3 of the Fishing Tweaks Discussion.

Fishing Tweaks Topic wrote:Step 3:

When: Futurely, scheduled after Academy Hideout Building
What: New special fishing ship called Dogger.

Characteristics:
15 crew members, 100 cargo, no cannons, 12.500 base cost, material cost a little higher than fluyt, low HP, +20 Fishing Production bonus, ship speed similar to howker.
Which means that with proposed formula, this ship will produce 43 crates per hour or 1032 crates per day or 10,320 gold coins per day (51.6k per fleet).

Why: Adds specialization to fishing with better output for those who choose it.

seems too good honestly 51.6k per fleet means with 20 fleets someone would be making over 1 million a day and the player would only have to buy 20 fishermen plus the low cost of the dogger ships

Doggers carry extra risk, as they carry no cannons and thus do not get Ship Traits. There would also be no ship leveling or attribute allocation with Doggers. They would be a LVL 1 only ship.

5 Trade Galleons can make 35k per day. With 28 fleets you can make 1M per day using just TGs, plus I can put cannons to defend and have access to Ship Traits. Fair trade off to me.

Now we could stipulate that only Doggers can fleet with Doggers, so no other ships can be in a fleet with a Dogger. This is logically sound since they carry no cannons and putting them in a fishing fleet with other ships would make their fishing rate moot.

It's good, but I wouldn't say too good. Not to mention the fact that they don't have cannons and adding an escort to them would make them far less efficient means that if you get lit up, those fleets will be easy plunder. So it runs a larger risk if you get lit up.

Well what if we make that to own more than 5 fishers you need to research tech in academy that way we get gold coins and gold bars sinker aswell.

That is definitely a possibility.

I like that!

Here's another idea...
What if a single person having more than than one fishing fleet per port required a fishing charter from the governor of the port? Fee would be so much per fishing vessel. (Say 50 to 100 gc per ship, like taxes. Could be a nation law.)

It would be an automatic flat fee for every port. If not paid, fishing fleet would be exposed on the gossip page, subject to skirmish attacks...no escape bonus. Would bear an icon that show it is a fishing fleet.

Just a thought -

that is a good idea too. Would make port ownership even more special. Maybe also have it require a governor to agree to it or they need to move elsewhere. This would give governors a bit more power and purpose.

I like that aswell even today fishers pay something for the licence to the country/nation. Governor will be able to accept that premission it will be valid for 3 days (from market refresh to market refresh). We can have setting in chancellor menu to renew licence automaticly if governor is same as the one whom issued previouse licence. and of course entire ammount goes to nation coffers with some corruption fee involved

I would make it longer then 3 days, as that's rather short, 30 would be more reasonable.
