My suggestion about inactive nations and their law settings. Recently 4-5 newcomer players kicked from their inactive nations due to high tax rates. And they lost their interest to play and went inactive. I know it wont make much difference but maybe it will help.
"Nations which dont have any active duke or higher rank members in it for more than 30 days, after that time their law settings should switch to default."

Actually I think such a thing is in place, but it takes a few months for it to reset.

It might be easier to kick out inactive players who have been away for 90 days into pirates. If countries are empty then reset

Bring in all new players under the pirate flag where there is no taxes or upkeep and when they are ready, they can then join any nation they choose.
That's not to take away the problem of abandoned kingdoms with high tax rates. I too thought the problem was solved but if there is a big time lapse before the tax is reset, there is still a problem obviously if it is causing players to quit.
It may seem like a no win situation to a new player unless they spend real money and that will drive out many mistakenly.

This goes back to an earlier thread. Nations should be allowed to send recruiting messages the same way guilds do. This would help to prevent new players from joining inactive nations and it would also give nations an opportunity to recruit from the outset. I agree in part with Stan Rogers, maybe new players should not choose a nation before they have played for a bit. I don't agree to forcing them to fly a pirate flag at the outset though. It should be similar to choosing a guild. Let them get into game play before they decide. It allows for nations to recruit, it would also allow them to get input from other players as to the best fit for them.

I think this is a nice idea. Also, the number of nations should be reduced, but that's another discussion.
