New technology :

Loadmaster

It's not just a case of throwing it all in the hold and hoping the ship dont sink, you know! In your Academy each of your captains are instructed in the Dark Arts of the new science of Tetrisology : they learn how to squeeze the last crate into those odd-shaped empty corners : additional lessons in calculating such wonders as 'Centers of Gravity' and 'Load Distribution' ensure an even keel is maintained at all times. Thus with your officers educated and fully certified, each level of research will add 1% to your vessels cargo capacity.

Cost should be comparable with Galleons technology research.

As an old Tetrisologist I have to warn all new apprentices to be very careful in applying this darkest of all dark arts... :!:
Achievements are great, but the danger too! 8-)

This sounds a bit difficult to implement but first we need to see how powerful this is.

I did consider it offering a simple 1 crate per level bonus : but at lvl20 it got a bit silly for small capacity ships like cutters/sloops : but I do see that a percentage bonus could cause similar issues for calculating 'part-crates', i.e where the bonus calculation gives a return of 3.45 or something like that : perhaps the part crate is ignored and only whole crates are considered?

+1, however one could make the increase in crate storage in direct correlation to the reduction in cannon and crew. Thus, a trade-off occurs for a trade vessel. Note: dumping cannon overboard and increase cargo capacity was requested months ago and met with positive feedback, but no response from admin. Guess I don't spend enough real money in this game...sigh....

Now, if this is added, with level 20 of this on Trade Galleon and Spanish Galleons tech, this can beat LMMs.

yeah it would, the only downside is the cost and time it would take to max both out. a long term investment, but once done would be rather profitable.

Aye, it would : bear in mind, it would apply to all classes of ship, so LMM's would gain capacity too : its hard to judge equitable research costs as any benefits will be gained as long as you continue to play : over the years, they will be considerable, but too high and it will discourage anyone wishing to start on them too.
