I feel like there could be a bit more spice to the PG metagame, something for the larger players to be beating the hell out of each other for, and for smaller players to be striving for as they grow. I say that it would be a good idea to introduce artifacts.

Unlike voodoo cards their effects would be permanent, such as +1 gold from every trade good sold and such, or a small attack boost. But each one would be unique, no stacked abilities, each one would be the only one of its kind. There would also be a permanent list of the current owners of each one, and which of their fleets it is assigned to (But not the port their in).

They would have multiple ways of being passed along, firstly, you can randomly find one by raiding NPC's, or something of the like, or a chance by raiding a player's fleet that has one assigned to it. Next you HAVE to assign it to one of your fleets, so that it may be passed along and can always be within reach of other players (this fleet would also be incapable of having the last ship removed just like danger rating). After that, you can loose it in two ways, by either having somebody successfully raid your fleet (there wouldn't be a 100% chance of artifact loss unless you are out of money) Or you leave the game long enough to have your trade routs quit, whereupon the artifact is cast into the sea, to be found anew.

Just an idea. :)

I think something for strong players to fight for would be good. Right now it seems like battle is all-or-nothing. A battle with voodoo ends in 1 or both players with almost 0 fame. This Fight-To-The-Death scenario makes for many cold wars where players stockpile cards but are discouraged by their guildmates from starting wars because the costs are imense.

I would enjoy fighting for control of a prize. Especially if it wasn't all my fame on the line.

I like Hellfire's idea; I'm imagining ~4 buffs: +8 gold/sell, +10% attack, +10% defense, +20% movement (the buffs only affect one of your fleets). Each one would be owned by only 1 fleet at a time and that fleet would be always visible for plundering (danger is +3 on acquiring the artifact with a minimum value of 3 always). To make up for that fleet always being vulnerable, that fleet will not give fame or gold if it is plundered but instead it gives the artifact to the winner and the danger rating of the plundered fleet is returned to normal. This way a player would be willing to get into a battle or two in order to have an advantage. I would be willing to fight because I wouldn't be losing 10% fame every time I lost while I have an artifact. It would be nice if you could transfer the buff between your fleets so you could conquire the +gold/sell artifact with your Ship of he Line and transfer it to your fastest trading fleet.

I want an advantage to fight over that doesn't cost me risking all my fame points!

What i was thinking was weaker buffs, like +1 or 2 gold per item sell, +5% atk/def, +5% movement, etc for your entire fleet. And to counteract somebody sticking it on a non moving fleet, a Voodoo card that is common/uncommon that increases the danger of ONE fleet by two every hour. Which is much better for smaller conflicts than fugitive from justice. That would also make it so that a fleet doesn't have to constantly be exposed, maybe they would have +1 or 2 danger rating, but it would be rather hard for a smaller player to hold onto an artifact if their hawker has to be constantly exposed to attack.

I like your suggestion for a common card that increases 1 fleet's danger. To make it different I think it should be an instant +15 danger to 1 fleet. Fugative from Justice and Swarm of Worms are for huge fights while that card would be for small/precise hits.

If the buff affects all fleets then a +1gold/sell is incredibly lucrative. I wouldn't want the +% movement because it would mess up all my trade fleet travel times- but maybe someone would want it.

Yah, but when you think about it, somebody could take on of them and build an entire strategy around it, such as a fleet speed up. These are meant to be game changers in the first place, some people might not want certain ones ever, but other people would see a certain value in ones that other people never wanted. That is what strategy is all about. ;)

This sounds like an awesome idea.. The only downside I can think of is the bigger players hoarding the perks and tracking down the smaller players for them. There would need to be a large variety, (like maybe a couple that only affect smaller ships), and maybe a max of 1 or 2 artifacts per player. Also to keep the battle going I think artifacts should have a 100% chance of getting stolen if your fleet loses a battle.

Whelp, might as well start laying them out as ideas flow. You guys post ideas for them, and I'll keep a running list in this post.

Skull Coin- Increases the gold earned per sold good by +1

Blood Red Shirt- Increases the defense of holding fleet by +10%

Bottomless Rum Keg- Increases the attack of holding fleet by +10%

The Jolly Roger- Increases defense of all fleets by +3%

Davy Jones' Locket- Increases attack of all fleets by +3%

Pirate's Map - Increases movement speed of holding fleet by +20%

Heart Compass- Increases movement speed of all fleets by +10%

Polly's head- increases gold earned for sold goods by +3 -This artifact may only be obtained and held by a player with less than 500,000 fame. When current player exceeds the limit, artifact is automatically removed and capable of being found once more.-

Piece of Eight- Increases the gold earned per sold good by +5 -There are eight of these artifacts in existence and only one can be held by a player at a time. In addition, artifact can only be held by a player with under 100,000 fame and upon exceeding this limit, the artifact will automatically be removed and be capable of being found once more.-

Voodoo Doll- Gives player an additional voodoo card once every three days time automatically.

Lets keep the ideas rolling guys :)

Treasure fleets would have a chance to have an artifact on board with them or looking for buried treasure would give you a chance to find an artifact. Also, ship-wreaking would add a chance to find artifacts as well.

Voodoo packs will have 2 artifacts if you own enough space for the 2. (this is under change possibly)

Up to 2 artifacts can be echoed with a legendary voodoo card (unless said otherwise.)

Examples of artifacts:

Ancient Manuscript: Can be echoed with legendary voodoo to enhance the amount of time in an X factor variable in a legendary voodoo card. Cannot be assigned with ship.

Mayan Calendar: Can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving a duration exceeding 12 hours. and can increase duration of the card by 12+ hours. Cannot be assigned to target ship

Blooded Angel Wing: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving an effect that changes ship/fleet speeds (instant is counted.) This will either increase the speed or decrease speed (choice.) can be assigned with ship to increase speed of ship by 15% and probability of evading ship shots by 10% each shot.

Mermaid's Tear: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving crew morality and crew count and can increase crew number on a ship. Can be assigned with ship to increase crew capacity by 50 and crew count by 50. This increases speed of ship by 5% per identical artifact of this kind and increases probability to hit by 5% each shot.

Gerutha's Tablet: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving the increasing of influence and adds 50% of the influence being added. ex: legendary voodoo increases influence by 100,000. Added echoed artifact and that number is now 150,000. Can be assigned with ship and each nation NPC target defeated by this ship adds 1 more loyalty point. Max of 2 of this artifact on board ship.

Eris' Scroll: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving the decreasing of population and can further decrease them by subtracted 50% of the population being taken away. Ex: legendary voodoo kills 1,000,000 people. echoed artifact now takes 500,000 more people. Can be assigned with ship to decrease win chances against other fleets.

Cronus' Sundial: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving the changes in turn counts or turn storage and can increase the value being given or taken away. Cannot be assigned with ship

Poseidon's Scale: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving changes in the sea and ships on the sea floor. This can increase chances of finding shipwrecks or amplify the chance of getting a better, more powerful ship in a legendary tidal wave-like card. Can be combined with ship to increase chances of finding a rarer ship (Brig of War and higher) by 15% while shipwrecking.

Spriggan's Bark: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving plantations, cotton, wood, and tobacco to increase production and demand of these materials. Can be assigned with ship to increase ship ability to turn and avoid hits by 5% and hull health points by 50.

Hephaestus' Hammer: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving the changes in a ship's level, ship's attributes, and tools and can increase or decrease the values. Can be assigned with a ship to add an attribute to the ship. 10 of these artifacts can be molded to increase the level of target ship by 1.

Plutus' Golden Apple: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving changes in gold treasury, bank, or buried treasure and can increase or decrease these values. Can be assigned with ship to increase the gold bar sales by +100 gold coins per bar sold.

Erebus' Cloak: can be echoed legendary voodoo involving undercover and hidden identities by never showing the cast at all, making it completely hidden. Can be added to ship to hide the identity of fleet number, player ID, and amount of fame and gold taken from attacked player. Max of 1 per ship/fleet.

Golem's Soul Stone: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving changes in ship building supplies in a warehouse or in ships and can increase or decrease these values. Increases cargo capacity by 40 and ship material sales by +1 gold coins. (wood, cotton, iron, tools. Not gold.)

Blackbeard's Saber: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving the change in plunder and skirmish attack rolls (effects that are like bless.) and can stack on top of other attack roll increases. Increases attack roll of assigned ship by 10%.

Hawkin's Flag: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving changes in fame, such as fame gains from upkeep, plunders, and skirmishes and can gain 45% for fame from these actions. Also can be added with ships to increase fame gain by an additional 15% per artifact on ship from battle win.

Zues' Lightning Bolt: can be echoed with legendary voodoo involving the damaging of target ship/fleet and multiplies damage by 1.5X. Xan be assigned with ship to deal 100 damage per round to enemy ship.

These artifacts would be stored in a selected warehouse, bank, or vault.

Every 10 levels of a warehouse allows for 1 artifact to be stored. To avoid tampering of the artifacts from voodoo, you can build an artifact vault in your hideout or store them in your personal bank.

Only 1 warehouse can hold artifacts. Must equip artifacts at same port as the selected warehouse. Warehouse must be in the same location as your hideout.

Level 1 bank stores 20 artifacts, level 3 bank holds 35 artifacts, sequence continues with every 2 levels.

Level 1 artifact vault holds 50 artifacts and adds 10 more spaces every level (up to level 20.)

You can sell artifacts on the artifacts market for gold or credits. You can also tell them to your nation for a price offered by the council. 70% of the sale goes to the nation treasury and 30% is distributed to the council members. You can only sell the artifacts to a nation for gold only.

Nation treasuries can hold up to 450 artifacts. Dukes get separate personal vaults with 30 storage, governors get 45 storage, and kings get 60 storage. These vaults are emptied into a suitable warehouse or are trashed if warehouse can store them when you lose your position.

What are your guys' thoughts on this addition to this thread?
I want the artifacts to be with ships and legendary cards.

Only 4 ships can be assigned artifacts and this many:
Large Merchant Man: 1
Ship of the Line: 2
Man of War: 3
Flagship: 4

When fleet loses to another fleet with an artifact(s), loser loses his artifact(s) to the enemy. If fleet with an artifact loses to a fleet without an artifact, then winning fleet has a 55% chance to win random artifact from enemy losing fleet.
