I think that it would be good to give names related to legendary in-game achievements. So Barbados and Spain held large areas of the map for a long time, and it would be good to have land masses or waters named based on that. Cdv has had the most battles by far for a long time and could have a body of water or land named after him. Even achievements like Shadowood for the draft or longstanding forum moderators could earn names. Joe Boot, Shadowood, and Juicy have stolen a lot of MoWs, so maybe the one who stole the most could have something named after them. Danik's Bay of Custard or Pheonix's Fire Sea could be interesting names. Or Big Teas Green Bay

Or even have events like most trading income in November gets something named after them. That could spice up the game and provide some history of the game too. Maybe add a name to the map only every 2-3 months to be able to slowly add history or to compose events/challenges. It would be incentive to play your best if we added the events, which I think would be good for the game.

My 2 cents,

Slindur

I like this : not just because of the custard. But rather than name entire seas or landmasses, why not create a history, as suggested by Slindur, by naming features after events or notable persons/achievements. It would be nicevto be able to zoom in on the map and pick out Cape Da Vinci, Juicy Shoals, Boots Bay, Sandoval Rocks, etc. Slin is also right to suggest it need not all be done at once but added to over time.

Maybe also add some extra graphics to the map, shipwrecks where there were some of the great battles before.
