I do not say realism is not welcome. Nor do I say that references to the real world has to be avoided. I say that realism in itself is not an argument for å specific game mechanism. I do not say that it is an argument against, either.

Aye - realism is not an argument, I admit, especially here.

CJ has an idea and concept in mind, and I have voiced my thoughts and ideas for what little they are worth. I trust there will be a new blockade feature, and as CJ stated, if a port is worth a blockade, it will be attacked. If it is worth defending, it will be defended, whether the value battled over be wealth, fame, honor or glory will be in the eye of the participant.

Finally, I don't get the idea that one goes into a massive battle and expecting to NOT lose ships, be you a defender or attacker. It is not realistic at all.

In our game, there is only 2 ways to lose ships currently while in battle.

1. Your coin drops below the ships Ransom Value and it is Plundered
2. Current Sink Chance rules. If your ship is lvl 1 and Sink Chance makes it sink to Davy Jones Locker

Why would we change current game mechanics for Blockade? Having said that, I think the above values should still exist in Blockade and I'm not sure if they do or not. Captain Jack, can you shed light on this?

I only listed "while in battle" ways to lose a ship as CJ has restricted voodoo during Blockades to only DMG cards and 5 of them. So Call Leviathan are out.

Last way to lose a ship is "Commandeer" while the ship is out of fleet. For obvious reasons this card won't pertain to fleets in Blockades.

Works both ways. Anytime some are against something they use realism as their argument, yet they will advocate for new and improved voodoo.

If you want to bring a realistic spin into blockades then there would be no question of whether or not you would defend. How many nations would allow a blockade without defense. They would not ask for compensation for defense, it is just expected they defend.

Like I said I don't give f..... about voodoo in my book it should be out of the game.

If it was more realistic I would defend but now on this format heck no I will just laugh at it

I guess this is where we differ. I would defend because it is a game and therefore unrealistic. I would defend for the challenge and the entertainment value. Isn't that what a game is supposed to be about anyway?

Sure it is fun spending time on something and losing it because mechanic is screwed and favors one side only.

If anyone Blockades one of Isle of Man's ports, I will 100% defend.

I hope they do too, I am excited to take on some aggressors!

And I am sure it goes without saying that I will of course start a Blockade too. For fun, for glory! :P :P

100% agree. Why play a game and not try out all aspects and mechanics. It is not always about profit.

Same as for fun and glory Bermuda was attacked and lostbports it was not about profit at all. Same why IoM took psaral not for profit rather for fame and glory. Same why Lodswe is attacked it is not aboutbprofit at all. Stop being hypocrits

Bermuda didn't lose ports because of profit. IoM did not "take" Psaral.
