No way! Statements like this really make me upset.

First, there is no telling how this will play out until its comes out. So please keep your comments constructive and add something to the discussion
Second, all traders will get notice of a Blockade in advance and it will also be displayed on map and in global events. Simple, change routes or pay the fee.
Third, this gives you a chance to fight back. Get your friends and DEFEND against it.

There is more I would like to post but I will hold my tongue.

I certainly disagree with the notion that this is a death knell for merchants, but it certainly will change their game! Excited to see how this plays out, personally.

I could envision trade/merchant guilds forming around the port blockade dynamic: a cooperative among merchants to protect against blockades on certain routes. This could REALLY bring some new life into the game!

Excellent! Thank you Sir Thalius! Constructive bantor on impact on merchants exactly what my statement was attempting to gain feedback on. Although, closing ports to merchants is just one more obstacle for the casual merchant to deal with on top of 3 Fuji strategy and hell-bent on merchant death pirates. Agree yet, disagree...

Coming from a "Witch Doctor", who has no ships, I would think you would be in favor of such an addition to the game. :D

Although we all know you to be a trader and also a countrymen for Bermuda. As Danik and others have pointed out, this will bring more strategy into the game of Nations and Diplomacy, something I think all will benefit from and have fun from. Some things we don't even know about yet as we need to test before it can fully be appreciated.

Also, it adds to the importance of alliances and trading pacts. I like it!

I am thinking that it will add some fun dynamics as nations really get involved in the diplomacy and to see the way that interacts with these Blockades. Plus it will enable me to feel like Nute Gunray in the Phantom menace, so that's a plus.

Captain Jack -

I while back, perhaps 6-8 months ago, you gave us the numbers of big ships on the water and in marinas.

I was curious if you could update us on those numbers again. For reference, as I will then probably ask this question again after Blockades come out.

Just for curious minds.

I just happened to fill my MoW shopping list about an hour ago. #14 But I can’t wait to see yours head to head in the near future.

I have one of those MoW thingies. I think it's dry rotted and infested with termites. So I doubt it would even make it out of port, let alone my Marina.

Metrics Right now:
================

SoLs floating at Sea: 804
MoWs floating at Sea: 32

I think there are more SoLs and slightly more MoWs. I do not recall the numbers at all though. Perhaps they could have been something like less than 20 MoWs and a few hundred SoLs but surely a lot less than 800. If anyones finds them out, let us know.

It's real tough to estimate the traffic of one port, even for us. We delete this kind of data after all pretty frequently. Perhaps it is time to add this metric to the game.

Soon, Ports will announce the following data:
-Arrivals Today
-Arrivals Yesterday
-Arrivals Total

-Total Crates arrived today
-Total Crates arrived yesterday
-Total Crates arrived

In the following form:
1)At Court page
2)1,413 Arrivals Today (648,000 crates) (i)
3)Mouse over (i) will reveal the yesterday and total values

SoLs
Top 3 holders have 158 SoLs
About 10 brave players have 10 or more
There are 89 players with at least 1 SoL out
411 SoLs are sailing but only 338 out of them are lvl 10. 37 of them are 60s.
124 SoLs in Marinas, 51 of them are 60s.
375 at sea bottom.

MoWs
106 in Marinas
11 at Sea Bottom
9 (!) Sailing

Thanks CJ

It would appear the numbers have doubled. This is a good thing. I am curious to see these number again say during a blockade.

Oh and +1 on port traffic.
