well whoever tell you it is probably employed by you or your country and as you/your country accept nothing but the highest standards it would be reasonable to think that he/she is educated and therefore would say my lord.

in the past not many people are educated, even if you want nothing but the best kind of people working for you, you won't get it because of the lack of education and rubbish system in the past. Therefore people has a "rubbish" way of speaking for example "Me Lord", Servants and uneducated people say me lord only those who are properly educated and nobles says "My Lord".
But your not hiring noble people to work for you are you? they simply would hate the idea of working for someone because they think they are better than the rest therefore you end up hiring people who are below the class of noble which most are uneducated which is why they say "Me Lord".

yes but you cant have an uneducated person working as you secretary(idk what they were called) you would have too son of a rich family or something, imo

In the 1650s +, it is completely possible to have educated people giving you these alerts as we are in the golden age of piracy, and not just the age of cannons. I agree with the people arguing "My Lord" and that the time period should be well applied here.
