Interesting idea. But yes, ultimately its to help keep some around that have invested some time in the game already. You don't get a wife in your first few days as we all know.
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

I think the limit of 100 is off. Make it 10-20, I think. That way, it would

A) Be more in line with other "newbie" help, and
B) Be more equal to the players, since most can get 10 or 20 people to help, while maybe only certain would get the full benefit of 100

Honestly, though, I don't think this is necessary at all. Getting a wife already provides you with a great benefit: One free card each day. THAT is the real benefit. And that should be sufficient, in my opinion. As for "giving newbies voodoo" - it takes time before they need that. They mainly need gold. Most newbies will sell their credits for gold if ever they get them. And proper use of voodoo requires an understanding of the other rules first. It is, in my opinion, a GOOD thing that it takes some time for a player to get a voodoo chest of meaningful size. I've seen lots of cases of completely useless voodoo casting. I fully agree with everything Haron just stated.

I would suggest this

For first wedding only

An announcement in Global events

and the following 25 Gift options
and 10 buried treasure casts
all gifts and buried treasures are NPC paid.

like a registry once a player has sent a gift is is removed from the registry

universal registry - the wedding couple does not choose this list

5 gift cards - only 1 per wedding guest
15 gift credits - only 1 per wedding guest
2 lvl 1 brigs -only 1 per wedding guest - generated as a new ID# ship
2 lvl 1 lmm -only 1 per wedding guest- generated as a new ID# ship
pair of tail ships 1 sloop 1 howker - gifted as a pair ( considered a single gift) - generated as a new ID# ship

10 buried treasure casts are available for those who prefer to send cash
or arrive after all gifts have been given.
- only 1 per wedding guest

Guest can only send 1 gift - not 1 gift from each or different categories

I see all of my suggestion being very helpful to new players, It will also encourage new players to get out and meet other players so they have some friends to attend their wedding. Iron golems are also a possibility, however without a suitable warehouse, they are not helpful, so I left them off.

Are you a new player? Contact me in game and I'll cast a helping voodoo. Consider this like a sort of "tutorial mission".

I like this idea +1 because early on your voodoo chest is hard to build up and may become something that makes some players lose interest

I approve of the general idea. Yes getting wed does generate a daily card IF you keep her indoors happy and that takes a regular investment of turns. It also takes a fair number to woo the lucky partner and win them to your side. Its that outlay which is more likely to put folk off. So a nice bonus on first claiming a spouse would encourage the attempt. I know that I didnt really pursue a bride for some time : back then turns were also needed to dig holes and bury coin as well as to build up ones fleets : yeah thats ancient history now with markets, banks and exchanges but even so I see no reason that new players should be allowed to avoid the stress and constant whining of a charming spouse so.. I approve!

I also like the general idea.

I would be more in favor of the first time you get married, you get a booster pack. Then anyone that clicks the registry/gift link gives a random prize, like 100 of x resource (player can choose which port and warehouse to receive it), 1000gc, a random common voodoo card, or some Gold Bars.

+1.35

What about those of us who have been married once and choose to renew our vows? God knows after decades of marriage, much help is needed.

I would prefer stacks of credits vs cards, but wouldn't turn down either.
