Armada - nation wars

Ahoy!
While I was having breakfast I remembered the Napoleonic wars's campaign, and how the first game is better than the second . Well, This idea came to my mind: what about allowing Nations to create armadas? This would make wars more important + would be really cool!
The idea is that you could unite fleets and only be able to fight another armada. Not sure if voodoo should be a thing where. And maybe some other mechanism to have maximums. Nations had to buy the people to command the armadas and only nations could do it (or maybe hire). Depending on them and the amount of high-rank players on that nation the more/less flee per armada (less players = more fleets, for instances).
In those big battles, there should be higher sink chances and, for the winner, way higher commandeering chances. There should not be a normal ransom. All ships should have added while in the armada loyal trait and, perhaps, some other mechanism to get them back once lost. The battles should take more than an instant - something like 6 hours. And two other things: the should be a draw made by the game (juts arrows) telling at which moment where what was and we should be allowed to choose tactics, but only a few of them, so it gets hard (ex.: main tactic, a secondary tactic for once the first was used and then in battle tactics in case the other armada has whatever tactic (but only two or 3 of those)).
Maybe allow mercenaries to join??
Those battles should bring some advantage in the war. Not sure what, though...
