Armada - nation wars

Ahoy!

While I was having breakfast I remembered the Napoleonic wars's campaign, and how the first game is better than the second :). Well, This idea came to my mind: what about allowing Nations to create armadas? This would make wars more important + would be really cool!

The idea is that you could unite fleets and only be able to fight another armada. Not sure if voodoo should be a thing where. And maybe some other mechanism to have maximums. Nations had to buy the people to command the armadas and only nations could do it (or maybe hire). Depending on them and the amount of high-rank players on that nation the more/less flee per armada (less players = more fleets, for instances).

In those big battles, there should be higher sink chances and, for the winner, way higher commandeering chances. There should not be a normal ransom. All ships should have added while in the armada loyal trait and, perhaps, some other mechanism to get them back once lost. The battles should take more than an instant - something like 6 hours. And two other things: the should be a draw made by the game (juts arrows) telling at which moment where what was and we should be allowed to choose tactics, but only a few of them, so it gets hard (ex.: main tactic, a secondary tactic for once the first was used and then in battle tactics in case the other armada has whatever tactic (but only two or 3 of those)).
Maybe allow mercenaries to join??

Those battles should bring some advantage in the war. Not sure what, though...

I like this idea or at least the concept. Team tactics and battles, limited voodoo, ability to recover loses.

What is not to like and if blockades ever become a glimmer, it should dovetail in nicely. Perhaps even a first step towards it.
Anything that promotes more team play and on the water battles are winners in my estimation.

"ability to recover loses."........ then what is the point ....... "war " is war. nobody "recovers losses' in no war have "losses" been recovered.

Suppose I use voodoo and my sllops beat MoW or SOTL. H ow is it fair that commandeer chance of Sloops more valuable than that of SOLT.....

general concept in conjunction with Blockades is solid as long as both sides are required to put up equal value in ships, voodoo and gold coin

I don't know where you got that info from, but I can assure you it's insanely wrong. In a war the winner does not always take all-Hell in some cases the winner doesn't even take anything other then killing a bunch of enemy soldiers . And in some cases a war is fought to recover previous losses. Such as land that was taken previously-such as several of the wars against Israel to take back Land Israel won in earlier wars. Or to seize a throne or position that was taken-such as Bloody Mary fighting Lady Jane for the English throne.

The idea seems to be similar to a PvP Arena or Battle Ground

While not a bad idea, I think that better and more thorough suggestions have been presented.

Aye - a nation wouldn't need a port to have an armada.
