Warehouse upgrade costs reduction

I think we need to add some sort of price reductuon or change upgrade cost scaling.
People now have more gold, more resources and more ships.
The cost for one single warehouse upgrade at a certain level, even with the research can reach ridiculous levels really quick. Adding up to billions for my oppinion not that big of a warehouse.
Banks used to store only 50m, now they hold close to 200m lets boost warehouses too.

I would prefer the option to sell capacity : I have many w/h I no longer use.. or which have far too many lrvrls for current needs. Its not unrealistic to be able to sell off buildings no longer needed and I dont see why this could not happen with warehouses.
There could be two options : outright sale of capacity with permanent transfer of ownership : or : fixed term rental of capacity much like plantation acres are rented.

The second could become a nation function. You assign your excess capacity to the port owner who pays you a given rate. The nation then lets the w/h on your behalf. The nation could charge a premium or choose to subsidise the rental to generate more trade into its port. If nations are also to need storage for their own goods, for building forts, supplying armies, etc.. then they could choose to use that capacity themselves.

Renting capacity like that seems like a bad idea, since upgrading your capacity when it's lower level is very much less costly, people could press newbies to rent out their capacity on all ports whenever they want. And that is not balanced to me.

Warehouse capacity would be easy to gain when that happens, there is no point to even upgrade your own, just rent, what I am saying is, the supply for the warehouse storage would be large, and people just take some whenever they want. It would break and make warehouse capacity useless to care about.

Yes..I added a further thought on how rental could be managed.. via port owning nation.

I take your point about potential farming of low cost w/h.

Firstly..why shouldnt newbs make some coin from developing w/hs?

Secondly.. I think your 'historic' level should remain in place for future builds : so, if you build and sell 200 level w/h. then if you want to build again.. you start at lvl201 cost. Then the law of diminishing returns will act to stop farming once initial capacity has gone.

There is tech that allows for up to 40% reduction in warehouse upgrade price.

I know but even then it costs billions for a decent warehouse.
I was trying to calculate what my ideal w/h would cost so i dont have to party so often and came up with 47b

Perhaps a new tech that boosts warehouse capacity rather then alter costs while we already have something that does so would be better.

Call it something like, Organization-you managers come up with better ways to organize and stack resources, freeing up more room for products.

Each level increases the capacity by a certain amount. Maybe something like 5% increase per level maxed at 20. So it would double your warehouse at max level.

That would work

I think we might have to be careful not to make building mega warehouses profitable. As it is a single party card can generate very high profits. Much like bribe cards have become the province of high captain count mega fleeters.. high card prices can only be afforded by such and lower level needs get priced out of the market. Same with party cards could happen. Pouch of gold is capped for yhe simple reason one card could add 10's of millions per cast to some players here.
The high build cost for warehouse does act to cap party card profits so keeping the card prices in reach of all.

Well to me it's more convenience than profit really. Party cards are already so cheap, most people have hundreds of them.
I'd rather party once every few days rather than hours.
But the main thing would really be storing resources in a port for Hideout, and now that Plantations hit it's not that hard to use up 100s of thousands of food.
