Gold Mines

My gold mine is at level 15, and until yesterday, I went through a few weeks where it made more sense to buy gold at port. I know about market forces, but you would think after all the resources i have invested to get to this level, that it would be cheaper to produce gold at this level than buy it.

Any chances there is a tweek coming to compensate or is the gold mine now obsolete and not worth the investment?

Until a new gold bar sink is created that intrigues the playerbase it will probably remain like it is.

A consistent goldbar sink has been discussed. A few ideas have been floated, but nothing has been set in stone.

You are in too deep now to back up or stop. GB has settled back to its average price of 2-2.2k/bar. I have seen the price dip as low as around 1750 gc and as high as 3000+ when first introduced. The rush for GB when plantations caused the price to spike up for a short while but the blush seems to have faded from the rose in that dept. From what I see, there will always be a GB demand for ship building and plantations. The huge investment and long payback time makes it not for everyone.

And honestly, having a maxed out goldsmith can save you quite a lot if you use your own bars for upgrades. For example I kept my bank at level 2 til I maxed mine, so that I could use my own for it. Since the bank costs over 900K bars, it ends up being quite the discount.

edit-doing a bit of quick math, rounding the price of bars down to 1500 and giving a conservative saving of just 500 gold per bar, that's easily 450M gold coins saved. And again, that's on the conservative side.

So you spent coin that will take you 3-4 years to make back with gold smith to upgrade something that will never pay you back? LOL

Well what else am I gonna do with my gold coins? Just let it sit and gather dust? I have all the ships I want, not interested in spending any on plantations or nations, got my techs maxed, so figured id go for goldsmith for future trading, and bank to save up gold for something later on.

Repent from your wicked trader ways and turn to the dark side.. Go Pirate and bury all that gold.

I don't put gold into the ground, I take it out. But hey, if I ever stuff my bank full at max level, then maybe i'll consider putting some back.

But no time soon :D

Yeah... nice thing is that once you stuff your maxed out bank full of gold coins... you can go stuff some-one elses maxed out bank full of gold... and thus the circle of life remains unbroken and the starving children of destitute pirates will weep once more.
