Guild banks and membership

Postby PhoenixKnight » Tue Sep 11, 2018 5:56 pm

Guilds will have banks that are managed by the Guildmaster, treasurer and one other selected member.

Contribution to the bank at will is permitted but withdrawal must happen by one of the 3 officers.

Guilds can specify membership fees paid per day/week/biweekly/Monthly at the beginning of the period. Payments are automatic and in the form of credits, gc, gold bars or all the above.

Gains received by guild members whether plunder, trade, player to member are subject to a defined share % payable to the guild bank automatically.

The guilds can set these to 0 or set a number to them.

how would this be different than the nation banking proposals that were rejected?

A nation has a treasury that can be accessed by council and is vote controlled.
A guild has no ability to unify their resources. At the least, allow joint accounts to be opened in private banks which would allow bankers in guilds to form a faux banking system within their guild.

IMHO, guilds are a tighter group than a nation and it would help raid collaboration if everyone knew a set portion of the coin plundered went to the guild bank. It could then be used to bankroll member's endevours that could benefit the team in the long run. Or everyone could just enjoy spoils together, I like it.

Perhaps it would be easier to accept if we knew the main reason why this and various incarnations are disapproved

Good point, to be honest think at this current time. Admins would rather concentrate on things higher up on the 'development list'... Need rather then want? I guess?

Agreed, this has been on the list for a long time. But, ah well. :)

I still see it as a different version of the same thing.

A national Bank was proposed and soundly rejected. It is easy enough to transfer money between guild members and other players as it is. I believe almost every guild has someone in it with a max bank or near max.

This advent of a guild bank as proposed, ie payments of credits gold bars or coin, would actually do harm to credit and gold bar markets.

I do see the draw of the percentage of financial activity, ie trade and plunder, going to a guild treasury, but by the same token sharing among guildmates is common and easy as it is.

we tried a Faux guild banking system in TOR -

The guild leader and Faux Bank guild bank owner quit suddenly and closed the bank and left no one access to guild controls or the bank account.

That player has not yet returned.

It is a slightly different version of what is currently available on that I agree however, having a "common" bank for guild exclusively would open up more guild strategies that could be implemented and contribute to more guild cohesiveness and team spirit.
