GIVE PIRATES RANKS!
If not a pirates republic, can you least give them ranks? A partially functional republic but not really

Citizen=lubber
Captain=buccaneer
Major=filibuster
Colonel=commodore
Admiral=seasoned rogue
Baron=gentleman of fortune
Count= Bold admiral
Marquesses=sea lord
Duke=pirate lord
King= a pirate king

There can be only one pirate king at one time, but he has no power over them.. usually. In times of great peril, the pirate king can order his lords to set sail where he wants them to go. This should only be done once every couple months.

Part of the problem with pirate ranks is how do you earn the ranks and what benefits will said ranks have? If all they are is titles then ranking up is pointless. And keep in mind that they need to be balanced properly. In my opinion one of the biggest issues with piracy is pirates need merchants to plunder- so if piracy is too easy and profitable there may wind up being too many pirates and not enough merchants. But if piracy is too hard and merchant life too easy then it becomes too peaceful and has very little conflict. It is not a very easy thing to balance honestly.

I agree with Meliva.

If you want to be a captain or admiral or even High Seas Goddess: just use the name change function and create a rank that suits.

Not saying piracy should be easier, I just thought it would be interesting to call themselves. Perhaps all a rank would do is increase fame.

Then it would be rather pointless to acquire a rank, since it will mostly just be a title, and fame is more or less pointless. If pirates are given ranks like in nations then there should be tasks to rank up, and bonuses for gaining a rank. I listed in one of your other topics several basic ideas. If you really are determined to get pirate ranks in, then I suggest you read up on previous discussions of this topic that you can find, think of the concept, tasks, rewards etc. then propose a well written and well thought out suggestion of your idea on the suggestions topic. People are more likely to listen to a well thought out suggestion then something someone just asks for.
