Credit Sinkers Discussion

A while back CJ had asked for some ideas on more small credit sinkers. (like turn storage, double turns)

I have a few ideas to discuss and would like feedback or your ideas as well. Perhaps we can find a few good solutions for the game.

Offensive / Defensive buffs
- Defensive Buff - 10 credits will get you 1.5 days of 20% stronger mindbar protection.
- Offensive Buff - 10 credits will get you 2.0 days of 20% piercing chance on all voodoo

Holiday/Vacation time has been talked about several times in the past. Some are for and some are against
- Holiday Buff - 250 Credits gets you 5 days
-- Can only be used 2 times per year
-- Can only be activated if all fleets have less then 3 danger (this is to avoid abuse)
-- Once activated all fleets will cease to move (no income while away from game)
-- Once activated no voodoo will be allowed on target
-- You man log in to chat with Guild, but if you activate any fleets, cast voodoo, access bank, etc... buff will terminate.

Open for discussion and I would love to hear your ideas as well.

Thanks for your idea input. I think there is a good potential there. Keep them coming!

As for the holiday buff, 250 creds seems very steep. That's talking, let's say, 30-40M (depending on CRX situation), for 5 days of protection. I'm personally indifferent towards the vacation mode, but I would suggest a similar approach to what you have already proposed:

- Twice a year you can take up to 2 weeks vacation. (My vacations take much longer than 5 days :P)

- For any additional vacation, you'll have to cough up 200 creds. Remember, there is no real advantage being in vacation mode. The game freezes you completely without you getting income or being able to manipulate anything. No income, no benefit other than protecting your assets while gone. (I've been to many countries with unreliable internet or no internet. It sucks when you can't participate and get mugged online. You might say tough luck but is it really fun taking out an active player just because he or she is on vacation or otherwise personally indisposed?)

- As you stated, vacation mode is disabled once you move fleets etc. (with a warning popup)

What do you think?

I slowed credit buying and spending down. With all the changes that are supposed to be implemented, credits used for one thing or another may turn out to be pointless. If an update makes what you have been working on pointless or useless then that is wasted credits. So I am just waiting and watching. happy to sit back and observe before recommitting.
So I personally wouldn't use credit sinkers no matter what you came up with. If the attacks and defenses of things change before current approved planned changes are implemented, not sure I would bother sticking around to see the new stuff.
What you are suggesting is to pay to keep the current system in play. If one has an attack buffer and another has a defense it is exactly the same as what we do without them. :beer

They do offset yes, but how would you know your target has either active?

And you don't have to pay RL money for credits. Many here have made plenty of credits from in game features. CJ is just asking for ideas to spend those credits. Like Ships Market. You can spend 5 credits to open an extra slot. Very handy for a Shipwright.

Just throwing some ideas out.

what about a wheel of fortune, 250 facets are daily sold for 5 credits each. each facets has a different ship (ship level). on the wheel are a few howkers, many lmms lvl 4, frigs , 5 sol's and 1 MoW.

each day the wheel turns once a day per player. he receives the ship that the wheel stops at.

I do think some sort of "Gambling" mech should be in the game. Perhaps when Inn Keeper comes with Port Buildings.

Good idea Maha

Unup is basically a black hole for credits.
