Return ships

problem: When ships are auctioned in market and there are no bidders for them.

I think it's fair like card there should be a time limit for the ships as well in the market, so when the time expires and no body bids on them, they are returned to the owner back.

we could have an option as well, so the user can select weather he wants it to keep it forever in the market or for a time being.

many player keep the ships and when no one buys them, it becomes useless as it can't be used by anyone at all.

i would like everyone's opinion on it and as well for the admins to consider this a possibility.

Admins shot this down previously because players would start using the ship market as a Marina. Players could place really important ships in the market for an exorbitant amount of credits and take them back out later, without fear of someone buying them or they being lossed to plunder.

You can always put a cap on the price depending on the type of ship and the attributes it has e.g A 60 mow could go for 800 credits.

That has its own difficulties : some ships are also sought after as trophy ships : those with low build numbers, for example : A slightly complex method would be to cap the starting price at the market average for that type and attribute count : this would not prevent a bidding war taking it much higher : that higher selling price would then raise the average so allowing a higher start price for subsequent sales : cutting prices to sell fast would lower the average and drop the maximum start price : its one way the market itself could prevent gross over-pricing : the data is already in place in the sales histories, so, it could be done that way.

still that it's the player wish to quote his price, but like SSR said u can put a price cap, that also solves a problem or there could be a option to sell to shipwright if no bids are made, to prevent abuse of any kind, if no one buys a ship it will be stuck there .

what if some sell's his frigate of howker in market and after seeing no buyers plan to use them, then???
no one can use it and all his effort of construction go to waste

Then you lower price or leave it on market. You can't imagine how huge difference is 1 credit for example when I was selling my friggy it was start price of 80 credits no buyers 3 weeks I lowered it for 1 credit and it was selling ending sale with extra credits than initial price was. This way abuse is pervented and I don't see any need of changing. If you want ship back ask someone to buy it then return credits and comandeer ahip

I actually think the option to sell to the shipwright for ships on market may be a decent idea. it still prevents abuse because they cannot be taken back, but it does allow for you to open up spaces to sell different ships if there are no buyers

Id say put a lock and a time limit on it.

If you put an auction up, unless someone bids on it.. After X days it stays but it doesn't take up slots...

Then it becomes bank and what pervents me for putting my valuable ships there for insane price when I am under attack attacker can't get valuable ships and I can rebuild on instant with gold coins which I get from selling it to shipwright.

Only fair idea would be that you need to buy it from yourself but on initial price. I set friggy for 80 credits no buyers I lower price no buyers I need to have credits equal to initial credits this way if someone wants to protect ships from being sold will need to have enough credits so it would boost price in credits and maybe put few $$$ in admins pocket

I agree there needs to be some way to retrieve them from the market. Perhaps a rare voodoo card similar to commandeer that allows you to remove a ship from the market? Not sure that is viable but this concept of retrieval from the market is worth exploring further.
