Ship Salvage : a tweak

Postby Most Lee Harmless » Sat Feb 04, 2017 4:15 pm

The Kraken have spoken : they are getting mildly discomforted by all these bothersome dredging cables and ceaseless activity as mere humans, soaked in greed, dredge up their precious prizes from the Krakens Lair : they feel it only right and proper that these puny yet persistent adventurers face some small risk of awakening the Kraken's Wrath and enduring a modicum of danger as these noble creatures respond to these disturbances : thus it is proposed that a reasonable percentage chance be introduced that a random vessel in the intruding fleet be damaged by loss of a level, or, again randomly, be taken down to the Krakens Lair, their sailors souls to be playthings for the Krakens kindergarten, their timbers to decorate the Krakens Halls, their cannon melted down to make shiny bracelets for the Krakens many arms.

The Kraken feel a 100% chance of such mindless destruction being visited upon these noisome pests is most fair, but will accept the miserable token risk of 5% as being a practical solution to this problem of their tranquillity and peaceful nature being so mistreated.

Edited for spelling : too much Kraken rum... they know how to party...

Kraken. No 'c'.
The Kraken is a legendary sea monster of giant size that is said to dwell off the coasts of Vassburg and Regis.
If a ship hunter is lucky, one may find a ship full of rum. Kraken rum is among the finest. I think that it is only appropriate for the Kraken to be disturbed by the tilling of the sea bed floor, and the loss of their rum. Daniks suggestion should be implemented immediately.

TL;DR

A chance that players lose a ship or have a level off a ship while ship hunting.

+1,

Would you get notified as an event or just have to constantly inspect your salvage ships,

Could be something like.
1 / 25 chance of kracken. 1/150 chance of leviathan attack, 1/1000 chance leviathan attacks twice.

If my npc shipwreck hunting suggestion was approved, i would like it to be even more dangerous.

The Kraken aint shy : they will drop you a note : maybe like this :

'Annoying pest! You have disturbed our playground with your depradations of our precious wreck-scapes! Thus we have invoked severe punishments upon one of your worm-ridden hulks!'

'Ship #xxxxxx has 'lost a level' / 'been crushed and sunk' by very annoyed Krakens! Heed this lesson well!'

Personally, I think that while on a shipwreck hunt, fleets should not lose danger at the top of the hour. And gain one danger when embarking on the hunt. Thus they will not be lit up, but will be prone to direct FFJ attacks. Also, they will need a short break between hunts, or accumulate danger.

I really think that Ship hunting should come with a risk, this is to prevent the game from having ships at the bottom of the sea becoming 0.

Nope. -1

The actions of the environmentally minded salvage teams should go on undisturbed to encourage the removal of toxic wrecks from the pristine ocean floor. The Kraken is a shy and gentle creature, forced into violence by the devilish voodoo practitioners. After an attack, it returns to it's quiet lair and feels bad. It eats ice cream right from the carton flavored with tears.

+1!!
But that's only a 4% chance of Kraken, 0.67% chance of Levi, 0.1% chance of 2x Levi.

I propose it's just slightly higher than that:
10% chance of Kraken = 50% damage to one ship in the fleet
1% chance of a Levi attack to one ship in the fleet
1% chance of a Levi attack to two ships in the fleet
5% chance of +3 danger being applied to the fleet

(only 1 of these effects can happen at a time: no chance of awakening the Levi and gaining danger in the same hunt).

tbh. I will give this a -1. Part of the reason is because we are asking for implementation of something that will soon be a dead feature in a few weeks.

And I rather don't see the purpose. I think it be a better suggestion for trade routes than ship hunting.
