Ship Prices discussion

Postby Captain Jack » Thu Feb 02, 2017 6:42 pm

Greetings,

We are considering price changes for the ships.

Here is a sketch:
1)Add gold bars requirement for all ships.
-Equal increase for all ships, relative to the ship base gold price value
-About 20% of this value
-Each gold bar priced at 2.2k
-Rounded upwards

This can be scheduled for immediate implementation.

For ship specialization, we thought to allow players to level ships beyond level 10. This will however will need different pricing for leveling. We are open to suggestions.

Taking all ships to level 20 (with the ability to also update attributes up to level 20) could help the ship specialization we are after by a great deal.

It's an unshaped and untested thought. We only know that ships have been designed for infinite leveling so there should be no problems.

I agree, maybe the 'higher' tier such as Brig of Wars and above may need Gold bars to build.

However, lower tier ships such as Howkers, Cutters and Sloops should not have Gold bar costs - For new players start with these ships, and it will be harder for them to build ships at the start. Although it costs a fraction more, it still is more, and harder to keep new players afloat ( May get confused with the current resources such as Wood,Iron,Tools and Cotton - Nevermind Gold bars...

Alternatively, you can add gold bar costs to the lower tier ships, but provide the new players with 500 gold bars in a certain mission... ( Before build a howker )

+1 for gold bar requirements. This will add more demand for bars which is needed.

As far as lvls past 10 goes, if it helps in implementing Ship Specialization then I am all for it. I would like to bring attention to an additional tech to aid in more ATT Points that we have discussed previously.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2959&hilit=shipyard

Again this tech is only if/when Ship Specialization comes about and only if the Specials are ATT based.

1.Add gold bars requirement for all ships:
I strongly disagree with that. Especially for beginners, this will be taxing. Gold utilization is already difficult to achieve with the hideout. May be if the gold bar requirement is included of certain ship classes or at certain ship levels. May be both. I pertain that ships and their pricing should be relative to the class, level,...etc. It could be nice if it was optional to either pay with goldbar, gold coins or credits.

2.For ship specialization, we thought to allow players to level ships beyond level 10. This will however will need different pricing for leveling. We are open to suggestions.

Levels is not something that I would personally focus on. I would focus more on getting more attributes without the leveling up and the MC cards. It would be nice if there are certain profiles recommended as a standard for each category or mission type.
If it is only about level pricing, then I would suggest adding 20% gc on level ten, level* 100 GB + 50 credits for each new additional level.

I agree with avery make it that ships beyod brigatine takes gold bars and lower ships doesn't need goldbars... that way new player will be able to develope and learn about the game and won't make mistake of building big ships and losing them to players like me who seeks opportunity to take those ships...

could you give an example?e.g. howker is 10k gc + supplies
will that become 10k gc+ 1 goldbar or 8k gc + 1 goldbar?

imo will increased ship price result in inflation; plundering will reward 20% more. the rest will adjust.

the levels 11-20 should be done differently. EJ's would become very expensive quickly if they could be used for those levels. a goldbar/credit price per level will keep the EJ for the lower levels and may allow for a legendary aid.
having a lvl 20 tail will upset quite a few players :) 300 credits to sink a howker tail :)

I think gold bars requirements for small ships is a bad idea. For bigger ships this is no problem.

As for ship levels, I see no point in levels beyond 10 at this point. Even if every get more atts, I don't see the need for this. Let's use the points we get at level 10 to set up the ships in what we deem a decent manner. Maxing out every att is not necessary. If this somehow is a requirement for ship specialisation, that would be another matter, of course.

yeah I think 10 is good for now. I think the market should be bigger and how do you get a crew.

Welcome to the forums mate!!

You have to hire crew, but first you have to build up a port a bit to be able to do so. Go see the Governor for this.

I strongly disagree :)
Goldbars are a so much expensive resource that a new player (someone with a daily income that could be around 10/20k in the first days, or even less) may think they'll be impossible to buy. And quit the game.
I remember at the beginning I used to look at shipwright wondering how one could buy so much wood, iron, etc. even for a Frigate.
I remember the first time a Fleet achieved the incredible result of a 40k daily income! I would have been scared if I had to spend such a few gold coins for a resource that costs 2000 gold coins (and more) each crate.
I hope PG to get more and more new players, not less.
