In this proposition. Gems are NOT another version of gold and carry an entirely new purpose.

Gems should be involved in creating Legendary Cards. I want Gems to be seen as something you want to keep. A very rare and useful material.

Gem Properties:
- Cannot be sold to any market.
- Cannot be traded in any way.
- Can be forged (Card Forging).
- Can be created by hard work.

I will be a bit more in-depth in last 2 ones in red.

Hard Work: Gems that are earned by plundering, by nation missions, by treasure hunt, by NPC hunting, and by buying influence.

Types of Gems:
- Red Gems (Battle)
- Blue Gems (Nation Missions)
- Yellow Gems (Influence)
- Purple Gems (NPC Hunting)
- Gold Gems (Treasure Hunt)

Red Gems - Easiest to earn. Can only be found by Plundering. Every 30 times you plunder a player, you get this Gem.

Blue Gems - Fairly easy. 1/2 chance of being found after defeating Henry Morgan.

Yellow Gems - Based on money. Buying in (NOT using voodoo) 10mil influence will give you Yellow Gems.

Purple Gems - HARD!!! You must defeat 30 Pirate Hunters in order to get this gem. This gem is used to create the top tier very expensive and powerful voodoo cards. You don't need a lot! (Also can be used to encourage others to bring out stronger war fleets).

Yellow Gems - HARD!!! 3% chance after doing a treasure hunt using 30+ turns. Used to create the top tier very expensive and powerful voodoo cards. You don't need a lot of them.

Card Forging - For those who think that is very tough work and would prefer to earn their gems through a large voodoo cache. This is where you come in.

Cards can be merged to create gems!

Merge Prices:
Red Gems (Battle) - 20 Voodoo cards
Blue Gems (Nation Missions) - 50 voodoo cards
Yellow Gems (Influence) - 100 voodoo cards
Purple Gems (NPC Hunting) - 300 voodoo cards
Gold Gems (Treasure Hunt) - 300 voodoo cards

Can you apply how Gems will be used for Legendary cards before I comment on the rest.

I.E. Will you need just 1 gem to craft or mulitple. 1 Color or Multiple Color.

I would prefer this if you used actual gems types - for the most part - your thoughts on gems are fairly close to mine.

Although only slight difference to your suggestion - I would call the result of card forging - summoning - basically magically stealing them from somewhere rather than just creating out of nothing. This could also allow for the possibility of depletion somewhere else. Say that you don't store them correctly your gems could be grabbed, like getting hit by a tidal wave.

I also think there should be a way to steal gems during transport.

That is solely based on the recipe of such Legendary Voodoo

Couple thoughts....

Code: Select all
Types of Gems:
- Red Gems (Battle) -
- Blue Gems (Nation Missions)
- Yellow Gems (Influence)
- Purple Gems (NPC Hunting)
- Gold Gems (Treasure Hunt)

Red - can be earned fairly easy... just need to attack. Attacking is not my play style... I am 100% merchant and don't own or want a war ship. Am I 100% excluded now?
Blue - I don't want to run missions over and over again.. once is plenty. If you use this 1 gem for 1 curse you are forcing players to leave their country for a voodoo. What about kings. This needs to be re-thought
Yellow - I can see some of this, what value did you have in mind to get a Yellow gem. 100,000 influence? Thats $1,000,000 gc for most.
Purple - Again refer to Red comment
Gold - Easy enough for all.

If you take into Gold.
That is 33 tries.
33*30 = 990 turns probably until getting. That is going to be time taking. I guess I should higher it a bit though.

On Blue - I will play around with that one. I see the problem.

Yellow - 10,000,000* gold.
------

This isn't meant for "play style" it is meant to explore all game features.

Red - can be earned fairly easy... just need to attack. Attacking is not my play style... I am 100% merchant and don't own or want a war ship. Am I 100% excluded now? I would say yes - or get some war ships and attack some NPC's you are going to invest x amount in to building a hut but you are not willing to poney up for a fleet of frigates to fight NPC's ? - Will
Blue - I don't want to run missions over and over again.. once is plenty. If you use this 1 gem for 1 curse you are forcing players to leave their country for a voodoo. What about kings. This needs to be re-thought I agree with shadowood - this does not work - Will
Yellow - I can see some of this, what value did you have in mind to get a Yellow gem. 100,000 influence? Thats $1,000,000 gc for most.
Purple - Again refer to Red comment really its just beating some NPC's - Will
Gold - Easy enough for all.

Also Dos is suggesting the card forging if one of the the other options does not work for you.

300 voodoo cards. Currently that can be bought for around 30 credits. That's around 4M gc with today's rates. That would be my option.

Anyway, I don't see the need for this at all. Let's keep things simple. The witch hut is a large expansion in itself. Making it too complex makes it less likely to be implemented. The main focus should be on finding enough decent legendary cards to approve, and to decide on the core rules for the witch hut. Keeping it simple.

People don't like it when its too simple or too complicated.

I shall follow what others think.

The suggested way you acquire gems sounds like just rewards for playing the game. I'm not so interested in the game creating a new item for you just because of your arbitrary number of plunders. The player should be in search of the gems and discover them in unique ways based on where/how they search. Thematically they shouldn't appear out of thin air but instead be found. Also thematically it makes sense that they be trade-able since precious jewels are always highly valued on any market or game.

I really like the idea of gems being used to craft legendary cards. If we can develop the ideas of how they are acquired then we can assign them as ingredients in legendary voodoo.
