Wouldn't have to send ships out for supplies, kind of like gold bars. What say ye?

That is part of the planned upgrades to make all resources tradeable in all ports, with dynamic pricing similar to gold bar : I believe a future Hide-out upgrade was also discussed which would allow for player production of resources within Hide-outs, but that would be some way down the line after Academy and some other stuff is introduced.

Trading is at its best now, isn't it? Extra options like these can be implemented in the future but I feel that these should not be priorities right now.

The next priority on this area, is only the gold price formula change, to allow bigger stocks in port markets AND slower gold price changes which will make gold bars trading more of an option than it is now.
