It makes no difference if you buy a LVL1 6 Attribute SOTL with Fire Assault from Player X or Player Y as the ship is the same. The argument is moot. The only reason I can see to know the seller is so you don't buy from a particular seller. I don't agree with that and do not support it.

That be one point made that I am completely on the reverse. If ship sellers were all NPC, it would make no difference however that is not the case.

One of the main reasons is, I want to support ship builders that are in my nation.
No..I do not want to support my sworn enemies or players who actively plot against my nation.
Yea..I think the ship builder in Spain is a bit of a dink but I'm gonna buy from him to further my nations standing. Unless Harolds ship building is offering a secret special this week that I could consider. Don't make it so 'digital' and inject some human traits that allow temptation, cajoling and bribery as well.
Really I have no skin in the game either way as I build what I need and the scrapyard gets more rejects than the market does. Especially if the ship value is less than a credit/GC.

Honestly I think ship building and the ship market need to be discussed in conjunction so any suggestion on either front should be discussed together. There needs to be a better way to sell ships and there needs to be more things a shipbuilder can do to enhance ships that takes time, effort, and currency to do. That way a guy like Danik who wants to put all his efforts into becoming a master shipbuilder can offer more superior ships and also push others to pursue the craft in order to compete. This is the way I would like to see things go. Almost every single MMORPG I have ever played has players that can craft certain things based on specialization they have chosen and the invest they have made in developing their craft. This is no different and hence I think it needs to be discussed as a whole.

I agree with Danik, things get kicked in the tall grass all too often. Shipbuilding and subsequent sales in an idea with real merit and will also help with sea battles as right now the main power fleets you see on the water are 3 high power sotls/LF/cutter and it either comes down to techs or a diceroll. The opportunity to buy slightly better ships built by a master shipbuilder at a premium could be the only difference between winning and losing at "end game".

I agree with banger.

We need more roles to be able to be played in the game.

The roles id like to mention would be pirate hunters, ship builders, treasure hunters, and fishers. Not every role has to be competitive, and thats what could make the game stand out. Yeah there are risks for all of them but nonetheless you should be able to make a living from any role you want to play a part of. Fishers should have fisheries, pirate hunter with specialty aspects to fight pirates, treasure hunters with spending less to find more from npcs, ship builders with being able to make a good rep for building quality ships. These are just examples but nonetheless need addressed

Yes things do get kicked in the tall grass. We should refrain from doing so. However, I don't see this suggestion providing any real benefit and takes away from a feature I actually like, the anonymous ship sales.

Shipbuilding is definitely a path that needs to be developed out. No argument from me there. I have an idea for it, but it is only an idea and should and will be its own topic, if I get the time to write it and the dozen other ideas I have. In saying that, do not expect me as I don't expect any of you, to submit a suggestion. If you want something to be developed out, submit a suggestion or discussion detailing the feature.

As well, don't piggyback an idea on another suggestion no matter how related it may be. Providing feedback to the suggestion and ways to improve it are one thing. Ideas that in themselves require thought and development need to be there own topics.

SO.... In the way that I look at a suggestion, I take the suggestion on what was requested by the OP and any discussion directly related to the OP's Suggestion. Based on that, I see if there is value in implementing it. I don't see value in changing this without a change to Shipbuilding.

I agree that this should only be a potential change along with a relevant shipbuilding addition, like William One-eye's Shipyard suggestion. This itself is a -1 for me.
