Mugiwara wrote:The thing is when you can keep your gold safe in banks. why should you choose to convert your gold to a gold bar and waste that gold spot for gold bars.

Because you can buy goldbars cheap and save them for rainy days(like new features)
you can keep them safe until building and research queue get finish.

Im suggesting Banks should have an additional storage capacity for gold bars. it will increase with level like gold storage. Because Beside the gold bar requirement for hideout buildings and researches no meaning to hide them in banks.

I think I would have to disagree on the extra storage. They way Danik has it now, you would have to chose how to distribute your wealth. The caps need to remain the same. By doing this a player who used to have gold bars just sitting in port now how to decide if they are going to fill each bank with gold bars. If they do this, then their money (gold coin) has to go somewhere, be used on something or risk a high treasury to be plundered or Booty Mastered. But they will just convert to credits as credits are safe and you can quickly convert them back to gold coin in the future.

Again, the cap on banks deposit limits need to stay in place, IMO.

I might be in favor of a new add on tech for Mansion. "Vault". Each level increases storage. Every Mansion had a Vault! You can only have max tech no higher then current level on Mansion. This would encourage people to Lvl 20 Mansion to unlock Lvl 20 Vault...

Currently, you can leave your coin in your purse and risk loss to plunder : you can bury it and risk loss to treasure hunters ; or, you can put it in a bank ( fee applies as turn cost) where it is much safer, except the bank can close on you or the banker can spend it and you risk loss. I prefer if GB's have a similar structure, where by spending a fee, you gain better security BUT you never have total security in another players bank as they can block you getting it back : total security is in having your own bank, but that comes with an extreme cost, in coin, materials, credits and gold bars. So, I feel that is a fairer structure for securing your wealth, the more secure it is, the more it will cost you.

the bank of the twin bars has only once gone under deposit numbers and even then we corrected that oversight within an hour.

Danik wrote:GB storage in bank vaults:

I propose an extension of banks to include the provision of vaults for storing Gold Bars : this is a logical development as banks at the time were not restricted to just handling coin, but would store bullion and jewels in what were the forerunners of 'safety deposit boxes'.

I think this can best be handled by not extending deposit limits per level, but by 'mix and match' coin and bar amounts : thus the customer can store, in a level 4 bank for example, either 10 million in coin, 10 million in Gold Bars or a mixture of the two : I propose the value of the GB's for this case is based on the current average price in Avonmora at time of deposit.

I feel, with the recent change in OLOD effect upon GB in warehouses, some form of safer storage should be made available for gold bars, given their high intrinsic value.

As for the banks, a value-based fee for handling gold bar deposits and withdrawals is not unreasonable.

To guard against manipulation and attempts to dodge transport, the bars should only be able to be withdrawn in the port of deposit : so, if they were in the players Regis warehouse when deposited, that's where they go back to on withdrawal.

Can we link the banks to the bank reserves and strength?

It would be nice to hear from Joe Goldtooth and his prediction on what the price of GB is going to do. Right now, GB prices have never been so low and a savvy gold speculator may be inclined to invest if there was a safe way to store his gold to sell when prices rebound.

Aye: Avg Avonmora Price: Gold Coins 1,972

Still room for profit.

Like I said in a private discussion, we need to increase Gold Bars consumption. That's what the game is yelling at us right now. Expect movement at this at early March.
