I agree with this. Although I do understand CJ's reasoning, I see a few issues with this.

#1 This will requires vigilance of gold on hand at reset each day. It will be an added expenses to daily upkeep. Using Dez numbers of 500 an acre for 1000 acres for rent. That will add an extra 500,000 gold coin requirement at reset each day. (again number are for example purpose only).

#2 What will the cost and resource requirement structure be for plantations? Honestly until this is known, how are we to know where the "break eve/ profit" point will be per acre? If plantation costs 500,000 per day in but can only max out at 400,000 k profit per day, initially you would be bidding on something to guarantee to cost you gold daily.

#3 If you publish the list of plantations and amount of rent paid, you are giving another tool to pirates/raiders. Example. I am planning a ship raid on Sir Edward Pellew. I cast spy and pouch and see he has 200 ships sailing and has only 2 million gold on hand. Now I go to the plantation list and see he has rental of 2000 acres at 100 coin per acre. That means at reset his gold will drop by normal upkeep costs plus another 200k. Add in taxation and you will have a very good idea of what type of requirements you would need for a raid....... although this may not necessarily be a negative......edited after reply

This is new to all of us and I am extremely excited about this upgrade. Just voicing some issues/ concerns I see.

This is where CJ comes ands tell you that the bidding system must not calculate daily but per 24hours.
Which means dear DezNutz that things are a way worse than you thought, at least for me.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep track of when EVERY acre has been purchased? Not to pay it, payment will be daily as all logistics after all, but when to release it for the rest, or reprice it as you mention.

This is what I am currently working on. EVERY acre you rent, you will rent it for 24hours. Not a day! For 24 hours. You will pay it daily but you will reserve it for 24hours. During which, none will be able to take it from you. But once these 24 hours pass... acres will be either repriced up to your max bid or lost to another (should such demand exist).

I am not sure if I explained all you wanted to know. If not, shoot CJ! He has to reply after all. But seriously, you now know how sick he is :P

Actually, I was hoping we will use the newly introduced preferred banks feature for this or at least allow delay, like it happens with tax. Or how about we make rents payments on acres hourly based to allow better management? Although I would prefer breakdown to 10 minutes, just like with goldsmiths.

The problem for pricing really starts when some ports go post 1.5B.
Caspian and Seaglory currently sell at 2gc each!

This is why I proposed changes to Base Prices

With new base prices, Caspian and Seaglory would sell at 5gc instead, which allows room for plantations operation.

I hope it now becomes clear that plantations will dictate to change base prices. This renders the numbers I gave you at page 10 outdated BUT those numbers there are revealing the whereabouts of the actual numbers that will result after all tweaking has been done.

I think that with the maximum allowed acres to rent we will be fine. I do believe that before acres are out, we will have port buildings that will have more acres. Surely the "rogue player" danger is realistic. However, plantations will not be really expensive to build and surely those aspiring to create one, will be able to deal with these rogues.

You also need to see the bright side: Economic wars! Since antagonize card never seemed to work as much.

I can already see how a few cards will become much more useful and others will basically become obsolete.
