I'll go further : I wont bother getting one as a privateer either. Plantation boost? Get plantations working first so I bother with owning one to be boosted. Shiny gold signs all over the fleet its in? How much gold will that add to my coffers? None ? Not interested then. Keep the shiny fonts. How much fame to get the boosts? You are having a laugh! Sure I could get that... as long as I never hit another fleet for a year or two. Wont last more than a few days once I get lit but hey... hard come and easy go.

So.. cant use it and cant sell it. The point of it is then.. what? Shiny fonts on its fleet?

i am curious which pirates you had in mind with this concept as the pirates it benefits only hold plantations, national flags and pull strings from the background

the more i read it and see who it benefits the more i laugh at the absurdity of it

are we going for selective god mode here or maybe it just turned april and i missed it :?:

Honestly I would suggest that a flagship should be a pirate only thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm no pirate and I myself would like a flagship, but as it is now, trading and being in nations is heavily stacked against piracy. We see almost no active players flying the black flag, with none bothering with any port ownership.

Give true pirates a nice flagship as an alternative to nations MoW will be a good start to balancing things again.

While I provided input to the discussion on this, I disagreed with the approach presented.

Short Version of what I thought flagship should be was a level based experience point system. Actions taken by the designated flagship generated experience. Each level would require more and more experience. Each level would give one ability point to be used for a variety of different Abilities. Attack Bonus, Defense Bonus, Extra Skirmish Plunder, Extra Plunder GC, etc. Abilities would include non-battle related bonuses as well. Each Ability would give a bonus, so you could level up the Ability as much as you want, no limit. The only limit would be a level's required experience, the more levels you have the more experience you have to gain to reach the next level, and thus the next point.

I think this would allow a wide variety different flagship setups that players could tailor to their likings and make flagships universally applicable to all players and styles.

Just my thoughts.

Hopefully that makes sense.

If you want something entirely different, make up your own idea and post it.

Right now, we discuss on a SPECIFIC suggestion. This is NOT a discussion of a ROUGH idea. This is a complete suggestion.

So, take it point by point, list what you do not like and what you do like.
