For mine randomly and with probably more to come;
I agree that the king should appoint the governors (from nation nobles only), but prefer William's suggestion that the appointment be on a rank basis with the highest ranking candidate having first choice of port. I believe though that this sub-rank should be determined by influence, not the king's rank.
This combination ensures that;
a) The plantation ports are fought for and encourage influence spend.
b) there is an element of game "fairness" in a governor role
c) influence alone will not get you a seat at the table and a chance to steal the pie.
d) Corruption will exist to acceptable levels
I believe that the king should receive a % of the plantation profit (not income), without knowing values use 15% as a stab on the dark.
Influence is hideously expensive, and as a king the ability for some return that doesn't rely on drawing back from the nation's coffers directly would be appreciated.
I don't mind the 1% decay if the above suggestions with regard to reward can be implemented, else wise I support Shadowood's suggestion of a lessor decay for kings.
The king should have the power to banish anyone from the nation regardless of status, at any time, subject to a simple majority vote.
The nation chat requires a council level forum mechanism.
The king should be able to nominate a "Hand", a deputy who will have the power act in his stead should he be offline for more than 72 hours at any time, though the Hand can take no direct action towards the king.
I 100% agree with PK's suggestion re kings absence.
