If anyone here has played Xcom: Enemy unknown they will get my idea.
I propose a ship building system, you get x number of points to begin with
Each ship and attribute cost points and so everyone is limited to the number of points and it all depends of how well they build.
eg: a cutter costs 10 points while a SOTL is 115
attributes on a cutter would cost 1 point for the first ten, 2 for the next 5 and so on increasing exponentially
attributes on a SOTL would cost 4 point for the first ten, 8 for the next 5 and so on increasing exponentially
so a SOTL is better but costs more.
Obviously all other ships would be in the middle with different costs.
This would be a good consideration if you had a limit of say 400 points for a fleet of 5 ships.
and one other edit would be you couldn't see the enemy ships so you can't build accordingly.
Obviously it would not always be the same number of points each tournament.
