bringing it back to OP's suggestion : I was thinking about having a 'share' link to the market for your vessel : then a 'ship=market' thread in forum for sellers who can then extol the wonders of their particular offering and include the direct link to it in the market.
This would be useful for 'pro' dealers to, who can put all their offers in one post with links to each, then update it as needed. (Perhaps a forum like the newspapers can be dedicated to such ship-brokers?)

This is another suggestion.

The lower end of the market needs some adjustment. IE Who would buy a hawker ( example ) for 1 credit when you can buy a higher value ship ( example Large Fluyt or merchantman ) for the same price.

This down to the value of a credit in Gold coin terms. IE 200,000 gold coin buys 1 credit. A Hawker costs 11 to 12 thousand

I would like to suggest that as in the voodoo card auction you can sell multiple ships per auction. Again purely an example 5 Hawkers for 1 credit

The alternative is to have fractions of a credit. I think they called pieces of eight or so my parrot keeps telling me over and over again

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but I don't see a reason for this. As well ship sales should be anonymous. The buyer and seller shouldn't be known.

I dont see why the seller should remain anonymous : quite what potential issue us being avoided in that? I can see issues with the buyer being identified but the seller... nope.
Its all part of the mess that is the ship market : the biggest being that it isnt a market : its a blind auction in which both buyers and sellers are blind.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the reason the seller was to remain anonymous was to prevent arranged sales.

I am going to side with Danik on this issue. The main reason being, if a ship builder is to make a name for themselves in Avonmora by promoting higher quality ships for sale, (an aspiration of mine) it cannot be done.
To allow a seller to advertise his own personal builds and tout the benefits of their creations opens up a source of FUN for both the builder and the purchaser.

IF one were inclined to circumvent the current system in an attempt to sell a specific ship to a specific buyer, it still can be done therefore, to deny the ability to buyers and sellers public canvassing is an unneeded precaution that currently can be defeated and is detrimental to the whole process.

I am for seeing the ship seller. Arranged ship purchases arent really an issue as you could post the link to your auction in chat and to the public and it would be the same concept. Adding the name of the seller would be a good addition to the game. Provided the player has the option to reveal this info if they so wish to show it

Arranged purchases are an issue. It prevents a scenario where Player A is telling Player B that they can get this ship and if they have to over pay, they will refund credits. Not knowing the seller makes it difficult to do as such.
