Improving the game experience

Postby Captain Jack » Tue Dec 13, 2016 11:56 pm

As game admins, we have identified the following things, which we think can prove problematic in the long run:

1)Players avoid using mighty fleets in realization of how easy is to become a target because of them and end up losing them.
2)In particular, only 14 MoWs are sailing the Avonmoran seas right now.About 130 more are docked in Private Marinas.
3)While several hundred SoLs are sailing, their numbers compared to the active players are low.
4)There are not great diversification of strategies for players that want many ships. There are options but we want more.
5)Trading alone can be boring. We want to give "traders" options to participate in battles.

These for now. They are all of similar nature. We are open to your feedback on whether you agree with these being future problems and if you can think of ways to improve the game at these points.

The only way mighty fleets will be more common, and more valuable ships used more is if there is a way to minimize the risk of using them.
as for giving the traders an option to battle, maybe alter the NPC formula so that there strength is not determined by ship number but by a different formula, that way traders could battle NPC's. I will try to think of some suggestions that might be enjoyable.

i know one thing that could change is that mows can be plundered still they have the same value but they can not be sunk by voodoo (making them a slight bit more powerful and less risky to take out). i cant think of anything for sotl's but that would help with the mow situation

The best way to increase their use is to have a game feature that can only be used via SoLs and MoWs.

Guild Based Raids against NPCs comes to mind. :D

This would get those big guns out with out gaining danger. However they would be out and could be attacked if someone got hold of a spy report. ;)

I agree with Deznutz: There should be some things you really need the big shops for. In my opinion, attacks on ports, (wars and Blockades) is what is needed to achieve this.
