Whenever you think of a fee or forcing someone to do something, you need to be thoughtful of the way to force them too.
For example, taxes (or loans even worse) are based on willingness of the tax payer to pay. If he does not, the nation law mentions the penalty, which is hostility as a way to force someone to pay. The nation decision is based on if you want to get what I offer, then you will need to pay the taxes I require. Or else, you give nothing and I give nothing back.
Going now to the port fee proposed here, this is something that has a different scope. We assume that the nation controls a port so they can do what they want with it, which is wrong. Nations cannot currently do whatever they want with ports and the only way to achieve this, would be to have the firepower to do this.
Merc for example, once had some coconut holidays and said they will attack anyone visiting the said port. This was a glimpse of port control via force. I am saying a glimpse as obviously, they still lacked the firepower to completely block it.
I am not against the idea but I am against the idea as it is proposed now. For such an idea to have validity, it perquisites that there will be a mechanism for players (as natural extension of what is called a nation in PG) to block access to the players they want. Once this happens, then we will be able to put pricing on this. Let's not discuss this in this topic though as blockades and port fee are two separate things.

I would like however to post something off topic here.
John Avery whom you all know, has once again made a trolling post in a suggestion. While it was nothing much, it is yet another time this happened. Shortly after this, DoS followed up. Grimrock Litless has not trolled, but again followed the scent of this spirit. While I suspect Maha will not have any issues, a newer player might had if he faced the same reception. Bullying someone because you don't like his idea with ironic posts or whatever, is going to earn you warnings.
I decided to issue a warning to both Avery and DoS. For Avery, this was his 3rd warning since his last ban and this resulted in a weekly ban. He now holds the record with most forum bans since the new warning system for forums is being kept, with 3 forum bans. This is a terrible record and he should be ashamed. So I really have 0 reasons to be lenient with him. Any lenience he deserved, he has already received it.
I also wanted to share some of the concerns I received via PM some time ago. They were specifically mentioning what Avery did in this topic. So, I hope this is the last time I see someone bullying/trolling anyone or any idea in the forums. You may object and you can post about it, with respect to the one that posted the idea.
Please, do not quote me back. We do not wish to continue the off topic talk here.
If you have anything you would like to ask/add, please use a PM to me instead.
