I will be blunt, I am not sure. Having been playing another MMORPG and running an alliance for five plus years the political sphere is nothing new and the same gripes that occur are similar anywhere else. I joined PG some time ago and have been merely trading with the odd bit of plundering so it is nice to see the developers make some changes to give the game some bite. As for my favorite part, is actually interacting with the community. Game mechanics is always an attractive facet to such games but equally important is the community. If the core group of people here can remain reasonably civil and the moderators conduct their job correctly then (fingers crossed) the PG community shall flourish. We are at a stage where we should be demonstrating strong activity on the boards with articulate (or "pirate speak") communication and avoid trolling at all costs. I am liaising via messages with a few guys and gals on here on both sides of the spectrum - and so far everyone seems pretty solid. So keep up the good work. Also I do not want to hijack this thread but does anyone use the PG chatroom? Or do we use another forum to chat. I used IRC for many years for my online gaming but I think these chat rooms admin supplied should suffice.

tl;dr - the community is my favorite part of the game.
