Ahoy there
I know this isn't a "must" but oh well, why the hell not?
Giving a person the ability to see someone's last nickname or full/part of the history of that person's nicknames..
It might be quite confusing when some players change their nicknames and you have no idea who they are/were.

Why should you be concentrated on one player? Concentrate on your OWN gameplay...

That was quite hostile ..
anyway, I didn't mean to check on one person, only. But some players just change their nicknames every 30 days or so.. and then you have no idea who they are .

The ability to see who you are interacting with may be wise, especially if you are teaming up with someone, or seeking revenge.

There be many reasons why a bloke would be for changin' his name - that be immaterial. Afterall, there be folks around who know about it, and that information can be found - simply by identifying the player number.
Perhaps it could be considered that the profile page could list "alias" as the last name used by the individual. If it were a complete history, it would be rather long list for some, so just the last name they used within the last 30 days - after that, it could drop off.

I disagree with this idea. Players exchange fame with the Governor to change their name. Essentially giving the ability to hideout should that be their intent. It is also not impossible to discover who someone once was, as Sir Henry Morgan pointed out. You just need to do some leg work. I can think of more than just the player ID to give away their past identity.
I think the name change feature is great as is..
