private marinas

i think i am quite right and many pirates would agree with me on this
private marinas have ruined piracy in this game people pretty much hid their trophies and now the pirates simply went inactive mostly
so what i just suggest is that you need to pay a gold amount daily for number of ships you have in the marina or the type of ships you have in there so that people would only hide their ships during times of war
any more ideas on this are appreciated

What's the problem, you won! You proved that pirate warships will out-fight an un-armed trade fleet.. see them all hiding!

You won so convincingly, you cant find any un-armed traders to hit any more. And you still aint happy?

Okay, enough sarcasm : I see 'trophy' fleets every day : MoWs, SotLs : there are plenty out there to be hunting : I also see a bunch of small-ship/small purse pirates who have adopted that tactic to make themselves not worthwhile to be hitting back at. And guess what, they aint ideal for hunting MoW's and SotL's, not without considerable voodoo chests to aid the fight. That's the trophy-owners fault then? The small-ship pirates aint hitting them when they are sailing the oceans, lit and on view for days on end... so does it matter if even more trophies are parked in marinas?

So, why charge folk to park their ships,? They already laid out much coin and gold to build the marinas ; they pay turns to dock and undock ships in them : so, who are they paying this rent to? Themselves? After all, it is their marina. What's the purpose then? To force them not to use the marina? To force them to place their ships in the open? Why? Nobody is hitting the 'trophy' fleets that are out there already, how will adding more change matters?

Marina's can store 1 ship/level with a max of 20 ships/lvls.
I never thought or got the impression that Marina's are making it difficult to find worthy ships to plunder. I will concede that when one had fleets consisting of Mows and SOL's, one had to carry purses to cover the ransom and avoid getting stripped down in a few hours of not being logged in.

This resulted with available plunders of 200,000+ fairly frequently. When the big valuable ships become protected, the large purse is not needed, so overall, there is less plunder available. Really though, this don't affect the newer players hardly at all. These mega fleets that used to sail Avonmora were out of reach for most players anyhow.

I really enjoyed that aspect of the game but it gets to a point where you discover there is more money trading than plundering. The danger of being lit up and having to carry a big purse to cover ransom.

You will see this happen again with the new 'crop' of players coming aboard as they progress. I look forward to seeing them lit up and vulnerable to a multi-million gc plunder.

I'll also submit that the cost of a Marina is almost prohibitive enough that only 'Special" ships that have considerable wealth invested in them are stored.I'm saving mine to take away all the new Sol's that will start to appear in a couple months  Myself, have war fleets as usual on patrol but to plunder a pirate for 5-10k, sometimes in a retail strike but for fun...not worth the DP gained

So, all in all, Marina's have allowed players to carry less in their purse but I don't think they are responsible for the lack of big fleets lit up.
The pirates are scooting about in Sloops and SoW's but they are mostly restricted to unprotected trade fleets and as they have no real assets, they carrying small purses .

Allow also the in-purse gc needed to run a Gold Smith is substantial so anyone with a smelter running have no desire to add DP and risk a 200k+ plunder due to the size of their purse

Pirates have done their best and their worst.I have seen many trader and pirates leave the game due to the fact of them been raided too much or having no one to raid.I have seen full traders turns pirates and richest pirates turn trader. Many player could have saved their sotls/mows if they do just care for example me.When Danik lit up my mow fleet and tried to steal a baby mow I could have increased gold count instead I just sit back and wait.

Eventually the ship sank and he was sad I was happy I didnt have a mow on my too to be all ruffed up about. However,if I had the marina to put it in i could tell you it would be there. My best guess is marina saved alot of you r gold when you a rich trader right?Well one of you rich traders can answer that question.

The pirates are scouting around in Sloops and SoW's but they are looking for the next pirate not trader but pirate who just raided someone to raid him.I mean its like this Sir |Roberts steqal 19 mill from Stan I realize have 35 ambush cast all one time and take the gold the bank it quickly. Its a win win situation for all of us.

For a trader who lost 19mill meaning Stan he would have to trade hard to make it back or build a pirate fleet and do a few raids.Stan builds a pirate fleet everyone starts to focus on it.All pirates dream is to catch that fleet off guard and plunder it.As pirates have said and will continue to say its all about the money not about the prize its all about your total treasure and not your plundering.

Now the only thing that hasn't been in Avonmora is a balance between piracy and trading.I have taken the path of trading and the path of piracy.I have to say neither piracy nor trading is not profitable.A new player as a pirates make up to 100k+ a day and 10k of trading a old player makes millions or hundreds of thousands from trading and around 10-150k a day from piracy.

We can all agree pirates have a bigger advantage but traders have a bigger purse. We are united as one and together pirates glory can succeed.I have played games where you need 100mill to buy a howker or fluyt and you only start with 100k and it says build a fluyt fleet which is 10 ships.Give a standing ovation to all those who are playing. But marinas need to have limits.

Not too sure of your point however, Marina's do have limits.
Big limits ! First limitation is having the infrastructure to support a Marina. They are not bestowed upon like MoW's are. Lots of hard earned GC go into being able to build a Marina. It's not just the price of the Marina, you must have a Hideout Mansion as well. Secondly, it cost 40 turns or less just to dock in your own Marina. Thirdly, although protected from external attacks of any sort, if you want to do any upgrading to your ship, you must remove it at a further cost of turns.

Just what sort of further limitations did you have in mind?
