fitting tool

What about a "fitting tool"? If I have a fitting for a ship that I like, have the utility in game that allows me to save it and then fit new ships (assuming I have the gold/turns) as I construct them.

That would be the greatest thing ever........

It would allow you to save what level you make it and what attribute points it has. Better that that all, allowing you to make multiple of these ships at once.

But wait, that would mean if I got lucky and rolled a 51attribute then I could copy that 51attribute? The reason the fitting tool won't work is because the attribute points need to be re-rolled and they'd end up being different that the ship you're making a copy of, meaning allocation of the points would be different too. It's impossible to do. Sure this'd be great, but it would mean that randomness, if copied, would equal the exact same randomness, to which it'd no longer be random but a set number. But that's all too abstract to exlplain :/

The points would be assigned to the stats until they run out of point. For example if I have a level 10 ship with 60 points and I assign 10 points in all the stats then a save that fitting and build another ship with that save and it only gets 48 stat points then it will spend points on the stats till it has no more.

From top to bottom or bottom to top? Instead of answering that, we could just have an option where the player chooses what order it fills out the points.

Yeah but I don't think anything like this would be implemented until they do the ship specialisation stuff so for the next year have fun :D

I really like this idea. In a simple form it would just save this info:

1) ship level
2) # of crew
3) # of cannons
4) order of attributes to assign

So you could select a ship and choose the "trader" loadout that you saved earlier. Then a popup box would ask you if you really want to spend XXX,XXX gold on leveling, crew and cannons. If you say "yes" then it will automatically make your ship to the desired build. The most important part is that it would assign attributes in the order you saved in the "trader" loadout. So if you have 16 points it will know to put 10 in sails and 6 in hammocks... but if you got lucky with 22 points it would know your choice is 10 sails / 7 hammocks / 5 iron scantling (or whatever).

This would be a great improvement to the time spent managing/upgrading trade fleets but I would really like to see hideouts and banks first :)

I think this idea has merit and I would like to see it given further consideration, obviously there is the variable of points during construction but as far as cannons and crew this number could be saved as a static number and I think you could also set point assignment priority. +1 but needs further discussion.

A form of this is already possible with attribute assigning. Don’t think it’s needed so -1
