Not as long as the infamous Black Sparrow, but I am nearing what some gamers call "end game" status. All but 2 researches are maxed. All buildings are at max or comfortable level. In my "short" time I feel I have accomplished more then most, which is how I approach games and life (very competitive), but there a few records and goals that I need to finish. These will take me another year or two. Until those goals are met it would be nice to see the game grow and evolve more. I can't imagine the change the some like BS have seen in the 5+ years they have been playing but I do know new features and growth are needed. Only way to keep the old and entice the new.

I will agree with your simple truth and can only say I am envious I got here at a later date.
While I have benefited greatly from others knowledge, I still must learn the mechanics of the game.
I have benefited from the stability no doubt.
But from my brief time here I have noticed the majority of
live plunders occurs on the newer players.
While I am sure there are some on notable and elder game players
to my eyes they are rare.
My worry with new and "better" concepts is that it will further effect the new.
As most of the old, run in cliques and rarely bother one another.

I stole my 10th MoW just 3 days ago from a player older then me. It's not just the young who fall victim.

I can name far more noobs you took Mows from. I will agree they should have taken more precautions as they received it But I would guess over 20 spy report have been used by you as players in helm have reached Marquess. My point in taking them from noobs is that there is no glory there. And each noob mow should only affect your count by .25 lol.

I agree the new fall prey more often than the old, that however is simply due to the fact they havn't learned or built up the wealth to protect their fleets. If it is the later, you grew your ship count to quickly.

It's a cycle and a way for the new players to learn how to defend. If they didn't they would sail through smoothly and one day lose most of what they as they did acquire any experience in defense.

Problem now is, players are trained to go go go on ship building, this leaves no time to build defenses and leaves them wide open.

Players should be taught to move slower and learn "Battle" mechanics before mass trading, currently this is reversed and there lies the problem in my opinion.

Of the 10 I have taken 5 were newer players then me. 5 were older then me. So you would have a hard time in doing so. ;)

Danik wrote:If I am extracting the maximum profit from my fleets, given the time and effort I wish to spend doing so, I am content : that player C gains .05% more per crate shipped is not a problem for me : they will probably have to spend far more time and effort doing so. An example : if I maximise all my routes every 3 days I may well earn a few more coins : but may not wish to spend the time finessing fleets and run times, losing trade during the switch over period as fleets are re-tasked and sent elsewhere, and so on : I may prefer to just leave them earning their daily coin with minimum management required. That's what I mean by merchants are not all equal : quite a few just want a decent daily income to finance other ventures, perhaps port and nation matters : trade is a tool for that, not an end in itself.

Worthy of Repeating.

Sorry Maha, but Danik didn't just hit the nail on the head, he drove it completely through the board.

Not everyone has the same goals or needs. Not everyone wants to be on the top 10 ship count, have a fleet that makes the most gc in a day, or even build up super quick. There are numerous players that like to "stay off the radar". Their routes are different, their ship counts are different, but they earn the gold coin they earn to pay for the advances they want in the time frame they want. They play the game for their benefit, whatever that may be.

As Danik said, if you think this is boring, become a pirate or don't and just attack players. Create the action that you are in so need of, if this is dull. If you can't think of how to create excitement out of a game that already allows you to play in numerous ways, you aren't looking.

Very good point. And a difficult one to address fully.
